Salaam,

I am needing to undertake Istikhara and went to duas.org to look up the proper method but have a question that needs clarified.

http://www.duas.org/istikhara.htm

Above is the link I am talking about.  In many of the methods it mentions moving the tasbeeh beads two at a time, but to the dividing beads count?  Or should they just be skipped. Any other insight that can be given overall about Istikhara would also be welcome.

Salam, Make nia in your heart, take the holy quran and open, read the first aya,

beads count and stuff is not important, but you need to interpret the aye well, the answere from the aya can be a Yes or No, and sometimes youll get more but stick to yes and no as answere

(bismillah)

(salam)

I don't recommend the way our brother " Rohulah Khorasani " did.

istikhara by Quran is complicated and maybe sometimes count as an insult to Quran. I think one who wants to take istikhara by Quran must have a very deep understanding of it not just the translation or even interpretation.

But about sobha and divining beads we don't have tradition or fatwa whether to count them or not , but assume you can make your choice at beginning whether to count or not  so if you take in your mind counting you count and if not ...

or simply don't go so far to divining beads take less beads and avoid divinings (this is what i usually do)

hope this helps B)

Can you explain further?

when making Istikharah, one may skip or count the dividing beads, provided that he/she knows other conditions of Istikharah and most important of all, what actually istikharah is and what it is used for.

"dividing beads" are not the main point in istikharah, don't get distracted by them, that's what I meant.

Salamun Alaikum

I always use the Quran when doing istekhara. I feel it is truly the best way and whenever I do it the ayat corresponds wit my question so well and is always relative to the situation. I feel as if Allah speaks to me directly.
