3 days of walking from najaf airport  to the shrine

Took 2 days and the morning of the 3rd day. I arrived in Karbala when the adhan of Dhuhr was going on. For me personally, the walk was an okay experience. On one hand it is pretty incredible to see so many people doing it, including kids, women, elders. Also all the efforts volunteers put in to make sure your walk is a comfortable experience; you get a good place to sleep, people giving you massages, treating your blisters etc. But besides looking at all those things and appreciating them, for me personally all those things acted as distractions on the way and it makes it difficult to focus on why exactly one is doing the walk. Not to mention some of those latmiyah that were being played throughout the walk were loud & horrible (these type of beats: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbnQR6VDISM - I call them music videos). I personally wouldn't do it again (not the full thing anyways).

 

If you are a fit young man, the walk it self is not super hard - unless you develop blisters or chafed inner thighs.

there is another way far from highway.with almost nothing.i do not know about the details yet.but i want to go through that way

Yeah, there is a parallel road on the side which is generally stall-free. I tried to use that for most part of my walk - at least on the 2nd and 3rd days - due to the distractions on the other side.
