Hadeeths On 15Th Of Sha`baan?

(salam)

Let's begin a collection of hadeeths on the virtues of the 15th of Sha`baan (particularly the night of the 15th). Please do not copy and paste large chunks of du`aas or `amaals from duas.org or other sites while giving a passing reference to Mafaatihal Jinaan, etc. I'd like to keep this to hadeeths in particular, for a good reference. These can range from hadeeths on the types of worship which should be done on the day and nights, to Saahib al 'amr (as), etc.

وعن أبان بن تغلب، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام، أنه قال يغفر الله عز وجل ليلة النصف من شعبان من خلقه بقدر شعر معز بني كلب.

And from Aban b. Taghlab from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام that he said: On the night of the fifteenth of Sha`ban, Allah عزوجل forgives from His creation by the amount of the hair of the goat of the Bani Kalb.

(salam)

According to Allama Majlisi, Imam Ali AS was in the masjid at Basra and he mentioned a special du'aa for the night of the 15th of Shaban:

"Whosoever keeps awake in devoutness on this night and recites the Du'a of Prophet Khizr, undoubtedly that person's supplication will be responded to and granted."

When people left the masjid, Kumayl Ibn Ziyad Nakha'i went to the house where Imam Ali AS was staying, and asked him to know about the Du'aa of Prophet Khizr. Imam Ali AS recited it for Kumayl and he wrote it down

Imam Ali AS advised Kumayl to recite this Du'aa on the eve of (i.e. evening preceding) every Friday OR once a month OR at least once in every year so that "Allah may protect thee from the evils of the enemies and the plots contrived by impostors. O' Kumayl! in consideration of thy companionship and understanding, I grant thee this honour of entrusting this "Du'a" to thee."

So we call it Du'aa Kumayl and recite it on Thursday night, after maghrib and isha prayers. If recited on the night of the 15th of Shaban, it brings tremendous blessings. InshaAllah

What is the meaning of muta´bar?

Mu'tabar is every hadith that is considered hujja (proof) upon us, that is to say that there is confidence that the hadith was said by an infallble. This may include the sahih, hassan and mowathaq.

Another definition for Mu'tabar is the hadith that all have acted upon it (or most) without a disagreement PLUS the evidence that the hadith chain is sahih and hasan was provided.

1. Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Quwlawayh in (al-Mazar) from Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Abdallah al-Musawiy from Ubaydallah bin Nuhayk from Ibn Abi Umayr from Zayd al-Shahham from Ja'far bin Muhammad [as] who said: whoever visits al-Husayn [as] on the night of the middle of Sha'ban, Allah will forgive him what has passed of his sins and what is left from them.

This Hadith is Mu'tabar without any doubt, its Isnad consists of all Rijal Thiqat or Mamduhin.

And it has the following Shahid.

2. And from Muhammad bin Abdallah bin Ja'far al-Himyari from his father from Ya'qub bin Yazid from Muhammad bin Abi Umayr from Zayd al-Shahham from Abi Abdillah [as] who said: whoever visits the grave of al-Husayn [as] in the middle of Sha'ban, Allah will forgive him what has passed of his sins and what is left from them. (Sahih)
