Assalaamu Aleykom brothers and sisters,

My name is 'Isa. I am a revert to Islam and by the Mercy of Allah ive been able to learn about the Ahlul 'Bayt and to follow their spiritual guidance. I am very enthusiastic about practicing my faith, but have found that finding Muslim friends is very difficult. It is more difficult because of my Shia leanings. I ask of you to give me sound advice in this regard, taking into consideration that I live in Massachusetts and that most of the mosques here are Sunni oriented. Jazakallah

Try and find a shia mosque and find friends there. There should be a shia mosque there. We are your friends on this website of course : )

:) Thank you, brother, I appreciate it. I must say that this has been one of the most difficult things in my experience as a Muslim: Leaving my old worldly friends and making new, Islamic ones. I have to find a way to make it to the Masjid that is in Hopkington, MA. Insh'Allah it will happen soon!

(salam)

Welcome brother. Congratulations on following the true Islam; the path of the Ahlulbayt. May Allah(swt) reward you for your hard efforts.

In regards to your question, I came to find possibly one Shia center in your area.

There is a Masjid in Hopkinton, MA about 30 mins from Boston.

Islamic Ma'sumeen Center of New England

115 Wood Street

Hopkinton, MA

(508) 497-3462

You can possibly give them a call and see what further information they can offer you.

InshaAllah this helps.

Other wise, we are all of your friends on this forum so Inshallah you benefit and like it here.

wa Alaikum Salam,

Congratulations, and welcome akhi ! I'm in the same situation as you. With Shias being minority pretty much everywhere, with the exception of few places, it's difficult to build a network of Shia in your area. In my area there is nothing but Sunnis and Sunni Mosques. InshAllah, you can find a Masjid closer to you than I have to me so you can attend frequently. InshAllah, there can be in the near future a Masjid that teaches true Islamic teachings (the way of our Holy Prophet saw and his Ahlul Bayt as) in every major city across the US.

Zahra,

I would wonder about the link you had sited:

[Mod Note: Link removed; no longer a religious site.]

This, because I had been taking a look through it and as I had spent some time in Philadephia Pennsylvania had noticed the entry:

7420 Brockton Rd. Philadelphia, PA 19151

giving a telephone number of (215) 871-7656

and a web address of http://www.Mahdieh.org / ahmadameeny@yahoo.com

I could not recall such a place by my own memory and went to Google Maps to search the address 7420 Brockton Rd. Philadelphia, PA

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

This , google maps, shows simply a house and a google street view walk around of the block and surrounding environs shows nothing but individual houses. Now, I do remember there being a fair size mosque in Philadelphia, a Tamil Sri-Lankan Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship Mosque at 5820 Overbrook Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19131 which is not listed. Of course the site may have some reason for not wishing to include the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship and the what seems to be a simple house at 7420 Brockton Rd. Philadelphia, PA may hold worship gatherings as a mosque.

I know nothing about Massachusetts. So the contribution may be of little use.

Best wishes brother Issa, my friend, companero Mejia. I have just recently, spoken to a Mexican fellow by the name of Sosa that works at the IHOP restaurant here nearby in Illinois whom is a recent revert to Islam as well. God Bless you.

Salaams,

I'm sure you can make good shia friends on this board.

There's also a group on facebook called Shia Converts I believe that could help you connect with other people who are in a similar situation.

Hi brothers and sister

I'm Sayyid Majid from Iran. Although I was born in Iran, I am studying as a Communication Engineering student in German in master degree at the moment. I am seeking for a muslim friend around the world no matter where. The colors, nationalities, languages don't make any difference to me. Being human and doing right is so important than those subjects. I enjoy talki with muslims.
