Having lived in the US for many years, the recent problems muslims are facing in general in US, and last week my son was threatened in school that some wacko was going to hurt him after the terror alert went up, we as a family are seriously thinking of moving back to Islamabad this summer.

Do you think this will be a good move or you think that this will thing will die down soon.

About 4 monhts ago a friend of mine who lived in the US for 20 years moved to France and asked for Asylum whioch was approved last week by the French Government. Do you think it was a good move on my friend's part to move to France?

As someone who was born and raised in the U.S. as a child of Indian immigrants as well as having lived his entire life in a metro high population area I can honestly tell you that you are making the wrong decision.

Is there another country in the world that allows you the freedom to be a Muslim with equal protection under the law? I'm not sure where in the U.S. that you live but I've lived in Chicago my entire life (a city which mind you has been considered one of the most racial divided cities in the country) and while I have endured racism I have at the same time endured respect for not only being a child of Immigrants as well as being a Muslim.

What your son went through is an isolated event. Can you honstly say that every American hates Muslims? I can say with full confidence that every American does not hate Muslims.

You're speaking of moving back to Islamabad? Seriously, you want to leave the U.S. and go back to Pakistan ?!?!?!?

As far as your friend moving to France, I can't speak on that but honestly speaking anyone that leaves the U.S. makes a mistake.

Move out of that area. There are lots of other places in the U.S. where that probably won't happen.

You could move to cities areas with a large number of muslims, like Dearborn, MI

Oh, and arm yourself with knowledge.

I can tell you that I have been in places in the U.S. where I seriously felt in danger (and I'm not a small guy...lol) being with my wife as she is muhajibah. Most of these places were small towns in the Mid West and California. I wouldn't ever move there or put my kids in school there. I don't care if I got offered a job for $10,000 per week. Also, I would say Dearborn is probably the most 'muslim friendly' place that exists in the U.S. If a lady wears niqab here, noone will even bat an eyelash. The big problem here, for the last 10 years or so has been the economy / lack of decent paying jobs. Now even that is starting to change, slowly. Anyway, I agree that he should consider all the + and - before moving.

Canada is the best place. Close to you, good economy and you actually get something out of paying taxes..tons of benefits. Not too much serious racism. if you are Indian or Paki you might even find yourself in the majority in some communities( Brampton).

But my family already has a house there if you have a house or family in Islamabad i would move no matter how much we try to be peaceful with most Americans they still hate us. The war this time will probably in the north in Tripoli. My familys house is right outside Beirut in the south. I really dont think the civil war would effect the area our house is in. The wahabi uprising if youd call it that is mainly in the north.

That isnt for you to determine, no threat should be taken lightly and dismissed right off the bat without some consideration, especially when it is your children.

I know of a lot of families who changed schools, moved cities etc when their children were bullied, stalked, or threatened in school, and their children were very glad that they did so. A lot of kids go through hell in school, they don't all come out stronger and confident individuals with a thick skin, sometimes a change of setting can work wonders, even if its just another school across the street.

Also, Pakistan can be a reasonably and relatively safe environment depending on which area you choose to live in.

I agree that Toronto is a great option aswell.

I had a bad Tuna Sandwich the other that got me sick so I think I am going to stop eating Tuna Sandwiches and all sort Sandwiches going forward. This is the logic this guys has it really disturbs me that this thread even exists!

It is more important than ever that Muslims specially Shia Muslims STAY in America and Canada and the west in general. I almost feel it is our duty.
