Enough is Enough Pakistani government should take immediate action against sipah e sahaba and lashkar e jhangvi.

I say if the goverment doesn't do anything the momins should pick up arms themselves and defend themselves against these atrocities this will never happen in punjab,,, the Punjab DIG inspector told the gujrat and lalamusa shias to stop the jaloos this year and the shia leader replied " we will never stop the jaloos of imam hussain a.s." the DIG replied but there is going to be bloodshed the shia leader replied " Just be ready to pick up the dead bodies, i can have 50,000 men ready to give their life and they will be armed to the teethed" so the ministers and army got involved gave us enough security and went ahead i think the karachi balochistan sindh shias need to arm themselves and defend and protect their land and families thats the only way they will understand its been going on for 20+ years now............ for god sakes theres 25-30 million shias in pakistan this is the only way they will listen...........

Here is an interesting analysis by BBC and they explain why the government is largely silent about the massive Shi'a killings all around Pakistan.

http://www.bbc.co.uk...d-asia-20983153

Formidable power of Pakistan's anti-Shia militants

By M Ilyas Khan BBC News, Islamabad

_65227814_65227649.jpgThe key to the increasing power of these groups is not just their ideological fervour but also their ability to set up militant training camps

Wednesday's bombings of a Shia Muslim neighbourhood in the Pakistani city of Quetta that killed almost 100 people is a grim reminder of the power of sectarian militants to act as the arbiters of peace - and war - in this country.

Since 2004-05, they have steadily spread their wings in south western Balochistan province, where the ethnic Hazara community of Shia Muslims has been their main target.

Figures released by the Balochistan government place the number of Shias killed in the province between 2008 and 2012 at 758. Members of the Hazara community say the figure is much higher.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi

_65220262_65219400.jpg

  • Founded in the 1980s, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi is a Sunni Muslim militant group blamed for a string of sectarian and high-profile terror attacks
  • Banned in Pakistan in 2001 and designated a terrorist group by the US in 2003
  • The group has ties to other militant networks such as the Pakistani Taliban
  • It regularly attacks Shia targets, but has also been linked to major attacks such as the 2007 assassination of former PM Benazir Bhutto

The hatred these Sunni militant groups bear towards Shia Muslims is fundamentally theological although the groups' origins date back to the late 1970s, the time of neighbouring Iran's Shia revolution.

The historic split between Sunni and Shia originate in a dispute soon after the death of the Prophet Muhammad over which of his four companions should lead the Muslim community.

The group which has claimed responsibility for the blast, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, was born out of another group called Sipah-e-Sahaba, whose name literally translates as "Soldiers of the Companions of the Prophet".

So their anti-Shia agenda is there in the very origins and name of this group. But over the last few years there has been a dramatic escalation on attacks against Shia Muslims around Pakistan, with some activists naming 2012 as the worst year in living memory for Shia killings.

The key to the increasing power of these groups to wreak havoc on Shias is not just their ideological fervour, but also their ability to set up militant training camps - and Pakistan's complex political environment.

Balochistan training camps

The bombing reflects the extent to which the Pakistani policy of using Islamic militancy as a foreign policy tool has, in the course of three decades, compromised its ability to clean up its house.

Sunni and Shia Muslims

  • Muslims are split into two main branches, the Sunnis and Shias
  • The split originates in a dispute soon after the death of the Prophet Muhammad over who should lead the Muslim community
  • There are also differences in doctrine, ritual, law, theology and religious organisation
  • The great majority of Muslims are Sunnis
  • Pakistan - where Shias are a minority - has a history of sectarian bloodshed dating back to the 1980s

The geographical spread of these outfits today is unprecedented in terms of both their striking capability and their ability to paralyse life in areas of their influence.

In December, activists for Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, which is now banned, closed down Karachi, a city of more than 15 million people, when one of their leaders was injured in a gun attack blamed on a rival sect.

Credible reports from the region say the group has also set up several residential and training camps in the remote Mastung area of Balochistan, from where they have been attacking buses carrying Shia pilgrims to holy sites in Iran.

A couple of very large arms dumps uncovered by the police in Quetta in recent months indicate that they have copious supplies of arms, ammunition and explosives, and the tactics they use during attacks show them to be highly trained.

But sectarian militants also have vast influence in the north-western tribal region of Pakistan, where some analysts believe they form the backbone of the Pakistani Taliban group, Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Not many people know that some top TTP leaders - such as the late head of the suicide training squad, Qari Hussain, and the TTP's current spokesman, Ehsanullah Ehsan - were all members of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in Punjab at one time or another before they became part of the TTP.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and its affiliated groups also provide crucial technical and manpower support to other major groups in the tribal region, such as the Haqqani network and other groups.

_65229281_016895252-1.jpgShia pilgrims are frequently targeted on buses by sectarian militants

Electoral power-brokers?

With this kind of spread and influence, can the sectarian militants be defeated at all?

Most analysts believe the state is far more powerful than the entire Pakistani militant network, but at the moment it lacks the will to pull the ground from under them.

There are various reasons for this.

In Punjab province, which is the breeding ground of sectarian militants, the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and its parent organisation, Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, have a strong electoral presence due mainly to the state patronage they enjoyed during the military regime of General Pervez Musharraf.

All the major political parties in the province depend on this vote bloc in many areas of central and southern Punjab to win parliamentary seats.

Therefore, any kind of a crackdown on these groups would run contrary to their interests, especially when elections are approaching.

The country's powerful military establishment also has an ambivalent attitude towards these groups. Even as cadres of these groups are clearly seen as an enemy because they work with the Taliban, they serve several other major interests.

Useful in a crisis

In Balochistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and its affiliates have helped dilute the impact of an armed nationalist separatist movement by diverting international attention to the issue of targeting Shias.

Elements in the military establishment have also felt a need to use the street protest power of these groups as a second line of defence at times of international crises.

Last year, these groups formed a major part of the movement launched by an alliance of Jihadist religious forces, the Defence of Pakistan Council, to put pressure on the Pakistani civilian rulers not to reopen the Nato supply routes through Pakistan.

In addition, these groups have provided both political and military support to Pakistani objectives against India in the disputed region of Kashmir.

As things stand, the Afghan endgame, in which the Pakistanis are fishing for a major role, is yet to play out to the finish, and the border with India in Kashmir is far from stable.

So while the destructive potential of these groups is not lost on anyone in Pakistan, they have not outlived their utility quite yet.

And if they continue to prove their anti-Shia credentials day after day, they will not have lost their utility for the Sunni-Wahabi sheikhdoms of the Middle East as well, from where they receive the bulk of their funding.

The MOST important act that Pakistani shias in general and Hazaras in particular could do is to catalogue these tragic events. This would give name to the nameless and face to the faceless. They should make a website containing a short bio and a photo of each victim. This would be, I believe, the most effective retaliation after of course absolute & fatal violence against the terrorists.... way more productive than any sit ins.

BBC article is a great analysis. The government nor the military will do anything to stop these attacks. Its time to make your own bombs and train your own militants.

Shias are not citizens of Pakistan anymore. They don't care if our people die.

It will take time, but for those in the U.S we need to get good jobs and raise funds. Get training from private contractors, learn about weapons, fund training in Pakistan.

If you live in the U.S go to Academy and buy yourself a Glock, get professional instructions from trainers. And learn how to use Automatic rifles as well. Any 9mm is a good start up handgun, bullets are also affordable. If you need any advise about buying guns feel free to ask me. But we need to take these steps. Take groups to train. Everyone of us needs to learn how to fight with weapons.

Their is no hope with the government

It's NOT Hazara Genocide; it's SHIA GENOCIDE in Pakistan.

There is a protest and sit in, in front of Paki embassy in Washington, DC and the Pakistani consulate in LA, starting this Monday at 1pm.

Same is going on in front of Paki embassy in London, starting this Friday.

Muslims, Christians, Jewish, and others should join in this protest to remind paki government of their duties. Pakistani Shia are the first line of defense against Salafi terrorism being bred in Pakistan.

The shiakilling.net has been doing that. They have set up a calender through which we can see who and how many people got killed on any particular day, we can sum up each killing by the end of each month.

They post pictures, and document their deaths, they are also active through twitter, Facebook and have a sms service giving updates as soon as a Shia death is reported.

The Shaheed Foundation and numerous others on the other hand are financing the families which are torn apart from the many deaths of their loved ones as well.

Shi'as are active in the Pakistani society by taking care and supporting the community especially for the dead and their family, of course more has to be done due to the intensity of Shias getting killed left and right.

They however lack the support from the government to counter or stop these brutal massacres :(

Whoever is doing these bombings, they are wrong and MUST STOP. Whether they are Sunni Pashtuns killed by Pakistani army and American drones or Shia Hazaras killed by Taliban bombings, civilians should not be killed. Both sides must stop killing civilians.

The Pakistani Army is not killing the innocent Sunni Pashtuns, they are killing the Taliban. The Sunni Pashtun tribes of Pakistan up in the mountains are fed up by the brutal law implemented by the Taliban, and have been volunteering with the Pakistani Army in big numbers to fight against the Taliban.

First of its kind subsequent Shia Muslim protests in various major cities in Pakistan.

If Shia of Pakistan could sustain this, this is going to be another major turning point for the future of real Islam (Shia Islam) in this part of Asia.

Hope they have a whole team of leadership profile ulema there. This momentum should not break - ever.

First of its kind subsequent Shia Muslim protests in various major cities in Pakistan.

I spent a few hours at one of these sit-ins and I'm going to go again tonight. It's unprecedented what's happening. People who never went out of their houses are out sitting in the streets in cold, including many Sunni families. Never before has a Shia massacre glavanised the community and the country in this way. It might be the watershed moment but its too early to predict things.

The prime minister and his cronies have flown to Quetta to talk to the protestors to agree to end the sit-in and bury the dead. But the protestors are demanding dismissal of provincial government, or rather acknowledge the lack of that government anyway, and call in the army.

Laskhar-e-Jhangvi vermin after they had a deal with Nawaz brothers to not target Punjab have since taken their killing spree to Karachi and Balochistan. There, they are concentrated in Mastung area. It's not very far from Quetta city. I don't understand what's holding this spineless government and complicit army from launching the operation to root out those rats in Mastung.

But these spineless rulers will only go against them if they feel that their own personal interests are threatened or if those terrorists are encroaching upon their turf. Just like in Swat, the army only retaliated when Fazlullah's men attacked and killed soldiers and were only around 100 KM away from Islamabad. Before that they were busy doing so called "peace deals" and I predicted before any deal took place that it was doomed to fail. The whole deal-sheal drama fell apart in a month.

On comparison, Mastung is a barren piece of poverty-stricken land in a forsaken territory nobody in the higher echelons of power cares about. It's the same place where many buses carrying Shia pilgrims to and from Iran have been targeted with sheer brutality.

Peaceful Sit-In, petitions, publishing list of victims, or collecting signatures will never stop these people. These activities are all waste of time, waste of energy and resources.

So, Lashkare Jahngavi is going to stop killing Shias when a Shia group is successful in collecting 100 thousands of signatures?

Pakistan is the only country where militant groups are formed in order to KILL Shias and other people, and the government is not fighting these groups.

Sipahi Sahaba and LJ say they are there to KILL Shias and that is their entire mission.

The only way to resolve this issue is to arrest them all or kill them all until they give up this demand and dissolve their parties.

Shias should protest and take over government buildings until the government makes arrest of all the terrorists' heads and known figures and sentence them to death or demand the formation of armed Shia groups backed by the Pakistani military in order to confront these groups.

its not less than what u have mentioned.

a whole city is sealed, protestors are outside president's residence.prime minister already in quetta.i agree we need much much more to do,but peaceful way like this is the best.we will show strength.

A Reminder of the demands of the indefinite Sit-in protest staged at Alamdar Road, Quetta, Pakistan which begin on January 11 at 1400 hrs:

1) Removal of Balochistan's Provincial Government and putting the province under control of the Pakistan Army and Governor of Balochistan.

2) Initiate targetted operation in the notorious areas of the province known for being the training camps and hide outs of the terrorists, most importantly, Saryab Road in Quetta, Kanak and Mastung.

3) Immediate arrest and trial of the terrorists already nominated in cases on charges of terrorism, murder, killing and possession of illegal weapons.

4) Immediate release of 10 innocent Shia youngsters who were arrested on on unfair grounds and remain in detention based on false accusation of involvement in terrorist activities.

5) All those injured in terrorist activities be treated under Government expenses in Agha Khan Hospital, Karachi and other such reputable and trustworthy hospitals

Till ALL these demands are not met, the sit-in will continue along with the corpses of the 86 martyrs killed in the suicide car bomb blast on the evening of 10 january 2013 at Alamdar Road, Quetta.

Protesters are demanding that army take control. Here is a relevant note from a reader from this page:

"Is martial law the solution? How many martial laws have we had in the past? 3? 4? Have they been able to control Lashkar-e-Jhangvi or Sipah-e-Sahaba? By some accounts the army has considered them strategic assets, not enemies by any account. Army rule is not a solution, a complete and unequivocal crackdown on all militants is." http://tribune.com.p...ng-with-allies/

If army was inclined to take out these terrorists they would have already done so. They aren't waiting for civilian orders because they don't take orders from anyone.

According to my insider source, the army is reluctant to launch any new operation as they are already under pressure fighting militants in Tribal Areas and near Afghan borders. They are also involved in suppressing Baloch nationalists. So they don't want a new front.

Self-defeatist policy since the LeJ and allies have had taken turns at striking military and civilian institutions in the past.

These people, rather vermin, these Wahhabi terrorists, this scum of the earth....they are all of the same stock whichever label they come under in.
