A salaamo alakum - Brothers and sisters!

I'm a new member to this forum, altought ive been lurking around here for a month now and by the end i couldt refuse not to create an account! It contains alot of knowledge and i'm more than happy to join this site!

But as it is my first topic i got some questions.

My father brought me this ring from Iraq when he went for ziarat for a month. I couldt join him cause of school absent if i dont attend classes.

Its this beautiful ring - Durr e najaf :)

So my question is as following.

Is it haram to pray with a ring that isnt made of silver? (This ring is pure silver though) because i was praying before with an fake ring.

What benefits does it have to wear durr e najaf? (Salah for example)

Is there any hadiths or surah in quran describing these rings of ahlul bayt (as)

Thats it for now!

Thank you very much, and i'm looking forward for more years on this forum and more knowledge to learn!

It is absolutely not Haraam if it is silver.....but it will be if it is made of gold.

And since your new, nobody told you. But I am Grand Ayatollah Haydar Karrar al-Shiachati.

I am the Maji'iya and Law around here.

Welcome on behalf of the community.

You should give me that ring.

You dont wanna mess with the Ayatollah.....especially if your new.

Aim to be my friend. Lets start with you giving me that precious ring. And remember, if there is anything you need, Just give me the ring and come to Ayatollah Haydar Karrar al-Shiachati.

it is not haram to wear a silver ring but gold is harm, but not diamonds because diamond is basically solid carbon dioxide which is a gas!

the durr e najaf ring benefits are:

  • Increase your energy bring more balance, grace, and harmony to your life
  • Promote balance in the relationship among your body, mind, and emotions
  • Foster balance within and among your body's physical processes
  • Balance your mind's creative and analytical aspects
  • Regain your balance after a life-changing or traumatic experience
  • More easily learn from past experiences so you can make better choices

A silver ring is Halal in Salaat, however gold is Haraam. As for the benefits (I also have a Dur-e-Najaf ring so I tried to find as good information about this).

  • Through a reliable tradition (Graded by Hajji Hassanali Peer Ebrahim), Mufazzal Ibn Umar visited Imam Ja`far as-Sadiq [as] one day while wearing a ring set in with Dur-e-Najaf. On seeing the ring, the Imam [as] addressed Mufazzal and said that the very sight of the stone makes the heart of all Muslim believers, whether male or females, feel happy and it cures pain in the eyes.
  • ..(A continuation of a tradition praising 5 ring stones reaching the 5th, Dur-e-Najaf) "And the fifth ring should be of that particular stone (Dur-e-Najaf) on his hands, he receives the reward for Ziyarat, Hajj, and Umrah for every glance, and it is included in his record of actions. This reward is equal to the reward of the Prophets and pious people. Had Allah not been merciful towards the Shi`as, He would have made Dur-e-Najaf a rare gem so that each stone of it would be costly, but Allah has made this stone easily available so that both the rich and poor could benefit from it."
  • It is also said that the stone is a protection from the evil eye, and from oppression, thus is a protection of Allah.

Recorded in Tahdheebu al-Islaam (A book of Sunnah of the Prophets [as] and Imams [as]) pp. 22-23.

Silver is the metal from which rings should be made. Gold is Haraam for men. Iron is Makrooh.

We have several traditions which talk about rings and stones. Here's a good list of ahadith taken from Wasaail as-Shia:

It is extremely Makruh to do so. it is the practice of people of Lut (as) .
