What dou think about this riwaya from ghaiyba al numani.

(48) Muhammad bin Hammam narrated from Ja'far bin

Muhammad bin Malik from Muhammad bin al-Husayn bin

Abul Khattab from al-Hasan bin Ali from Salih bin Sahl

that Abu Abdullah as-Sadiq (s) had said when talking

about the verse, ‘A questioner asked about a Penalty to

befall:’

“It is not a questioner asked….it is a flowing that

flowed and it is a fire that will flame in ath-Thawiyya

and then it will move to the tribe of Asad and then to

the tribe of Thaqeef. It will burn the enemies of

Muhammad’s progeny. This will be before the

appearance of al-Qa'im (s).”

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Maalik is Da`eef (weak).

Is this him?

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Malik b. `Isa b. Sabur. Client of Malik b. Asma’ b. Kharija. Al-Fazzari. Abu `Abdillah. Liar. His hadiths are rejected completely. In his madhhab was irtifa`. He narrates from weak and unknown narrators. And all of the defects of the weak (narrators) are gathered together in him.

And is this the Salih b. Sahl in the chain?

Salih b. Sahl, al-Hamdani, Kufan. Ghal, liar, fabricator of hadith. He narrated from Abu `Abdillah عليه السلام. There is no good in him, and nor in the rest of what he narrated.

Yes thats him.

This is what is in Rijal Al-Toosi

كوفي ثقة و يضعفه قوم روى في مولد القائم أعاجيب‏

"Kofi, Trustworthy and weakened by the people, narrated wonders related to the birth of Al-Qaim"

Interestingly, Ibn Gadhairi says that He narrates from weak and unknown people. But in the current narration being discussed he has narrated from محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب‏ who is trustworthy.

Well of course, Ibn al-Ghadaa'iri did not mean that he ONLY narrates from weak and unknown people. Your translation of أعاجيب‏ I believe is incorrect, you translated it as "wonders", I believe a better translation would be "strange". So it'll be "and he narrated strange things about the birth of al-Qaa'im".

Jafar b. Muhammad b. Malik is a disputed narrator.

Najashi gives him very strong weakening, as does Ibn al-Ghada'iri.

Tusi strengthens him and mentions that he is disagreeing with the others.

He is a narrator in the Tafseer attributed to Ali b. Ibrahim al-Qummi [ra] - if one accepts this as an imara of tawtheeq.

It is Macisaac's translation. Also, A3aajeeb's translation I think it best as "wonders" as "strange" is - considering the urf of rijali scholars and Ibn al-Ghadaa'iri himself - the word ghareeb or gharaa'ib.

Thawiyya is a place just outside of kufa, thaqeef is in Saudi Arabia, and the tribe of Asad is perhaps a reference to basshar Al Asad.....we can see from the current situation that the crisis started in Iraq then moved to Syria (tribe of Asad) and then the hadith says the crisis will move to thaqeef (saudi Arabia)
