Egyptian President Morsi leaves presidential palace as protests turn violent

CAIRO – Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi left the presidential palace Tuesday as violence erupted between police and at least 100,000 protesters gathered in Cairo.

In a brief outburst, police fired tear gas to stop protesters approaching the palace in the capital's Heliopolis district. Morsi was in the palace conducting business as usual while the protesters gathered outside. But he left for home through a back door when the crowds "grew bigger," according to a presidential official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

How would you (Sunnis) responded if Hassan Nasrallah, or Ahmadinejad or Maliki, or Sadr, instead of the hero of Muslim-Brotherhood, Mursi, have sent such letters to the president and officials of Israel and an Islamic Shia president recognized and befriended Israeli government and closed its borders to Palestinians? You would have claimed the entire Shias world-wide as the product of Jews or something like that? Or you already claim that anyways without those reason? Mursi exposed you all (Sunni Islamists) and described you all as the puppets and true sons of the state of Israel. You are done! Aljazeera: Several killed in Egypt clashes

At least four people killed and 300 others injured as supporters and opponents of President Morsi clash in Cairo.

At least four people have been killed in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, as supporters and opponents of President Mohamed Morsi clashed near the presidential palace, the health ministry says.

Fighting continued into the early morning on Thursday with fires burning in the streets where the opposing sides threw stones and petrol bombs at each other.

"No to dictatorship," Morsi's opponents chanted, while their rivals chanted: "Defending Morsi is defending Islam."

Riot police were sent in to break up the violence on Wednesday, in which about 350 people were injured.

The Islamists, members of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood group, chased the protesters away from their base outside the palace's main gate and tore down their tents. The protesters scattered in side streets where they chanted anti-Morsi slogans.

After a lull in fighting, hundreds of young Morsi opponents arrived at the scene and immediately began throwing firebombs at the president's backers, who responded with rocks. .

Amr al-Laythi, Seif Abdel Fattah and Ayman al-Sayyad announced on Wednesday that they had submitted their resignations in protest over his handling of a crisis over the country's new constitution, Reuters reported. The latest resignations bring to six the number of advisors who have quit the president's panel of 17 advisors since the crisis began on November 22.

National Salvation Front terms president's government 'authoritarian', after deadly clashes in Cairo and elsewhere.

Egypt's main opposition bloc has backed calls for President Mohamed Morsi to step down, a day after deadly clashes left the government scrambling to contain the fallout from footage of police brutalising a man.

A statement from the National Salvation Front on Saturday signalled a harder line from the opposition coalition which has spearheaded protests against President Morsi since November.

"The Salvation Front completely sides with the people and its active forces' calls to topple the authoritarian regime and the Muslim Brotherhood's control," it said, urging Egyptians to stage peaceful protests.

It demanded Morsi's trial for crimes of "killings and torture" and ruled out dialogue with the presidency until "the bloodletting stops and those responsible for it are held accountable".

Police clashed with protesters outside Cairo's presidential palace on Friday night, leaving at least one person dead. Television footage, meanwhile, showed police beating and dragging a naked man into an armoured vehicle.

In all, more than 50 people were injured on Friday, including at least five policemen.

The beating was "an inhumane spectacle ... no less ugly than the killings of martyrs, which is considered a continuation of the security force's programme of excessive force", the NSF said.

They include the Salafis, the Copts, the liberal secularists, former Mubarak regime elements, and other groups that are upset for losing the parliamentary elections, the presidential elections, and the referendum. Morsi and the Brotherhood are far from a good choice for the Egyptian presidency, but he's not Mubarak, he's not Shafiq, he's not `Umar Sulayman, he's not al-Barade`i, he's not the Salafis, he's not the secularists, and he has done a lot to get rid of the former cronies of the old regime.

And coming back to your points: Shaitain Brotherhood and Salafis are allies, they are election allies, and they are partners on everything since the fall of Mubarak. They also declared their animosity against Shias jointly.

The restrictions on Egyptian Shias never been like this in the last 5 decades that we witness today under this puppet government. They worship Egyptian Christians, Jews and secularists, but they called Shias a ‘banned’ cult and imposed restrictions on places of worship. And when it comes to Shias, the rights of citizenship do not apply.
