I reverted to Islam in December 2006. I have been doing ghusl wrong all these years by ignorance, not from laziness. I would make niyyat and wash my body, but never knew I had to wet my hair. So, because of my ignorance, do I have to do over, to make up and redo all my prayers of the past and all my fasts of the months of Ramadhan for the past 6 years?

Jazakallah khairan for your answer!

(wasalam)

i only washed my body and face. women use shower caps (plastic hat) so that the water wont mess up their hair while in the shower. i only wash my hair when i feel it is dirty, about twice a week. I didn't know you had to wet the hair in order to make ghusl so if i had to make ghusl and it didn't fall on a day that i was supposed to wash my hair on, i would wear the shower cap while in the shower. But, as I say, I truly didn't know you had to wet the hair for ghusl. I am a convert to islam, and my understanding of ghusl was to simply take a shower.

i asked the question to www.wabil.info and here's what they answered me...

"If you were not taught when you became a Muslim about the proper way to perform Ghusl, you do not need to repeat the past worships, but you must perform proper Ghusl from the time you came to know about it to make your worship proper. May Allah (SWT) bless you with more light and more useful knowledge and sincerity. Wassalam. Mohammad al-Musawi"

While performing ghusl  I think I washed my face before rinsing my nose during wudhu , I'm not very sure tho it's just occurring to me while performing ablution for solat that I did it the wrong way . Please what can I do?

according to sayid sistani
Ruling 373. If in ghusl any part of the outer area of the body is left unwashed, the ghusl is invalid. However, washing inside the ears, nose, and whatever is considered to be an inner part of the body is not obligatory.
