Abu Hanifa & Imam Ja'far As-sadiq

Sunnis have this concept that whatever the Aalim says, you shouldn't question it because he/she is an Aalim & how can they be wrong, right?

I know this because a Sunni friend of mine used to attend Dars and the Aalim told them once that you shouldn't question anything that is taught.

Now, wasnt Abu Hanifa a student of Imam Ja'fer as-Sadiq (as) ? Why did he then not stick to what was taught and not question the teachings?

They don't believe that Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (as) taught our beliefs. I think they view him as a sunni.

That's like saying why isn't Malik ibn Anas a Hanafi or Shafi' a Maliki because the Sunni Imams learned from each other.

Imam Jaffar as-Sadiq's (a) taught people from all walks of life. During his time the schisms present today in Islam didn't exist and while differences in belief/practice/faith existed on an individual level, no one subscribed to any particular school of thought. The Imams (a) mission was to uphold the sunnah of the Prophet (saw) and educate all Muslims about the true Islamic teachings.
