Significance Of Flies After A Death In The Family

Recently we have had a family member pass on. I have started to notice that flies will appear and linger around me for some reason. Well it is always only one fly, and prior to my family member passing on this would not happen, however since it has become very noticeable - and in different environments on different days (ex. at work, at the gym).

For the jokers out there, I would note that I shower and change my clothes regularly at least once a day.

This may just be coincidence but does anyone know if there would be any significance to this kind of stuff happening? If so, does anyone know of any references in ahadith or literature? I've been hearing things that lead me to believe there is some significance but I don't want to buy into rumours without having a basis for looking into them further.

A very interesting topic I am facing the same situation my family believes on it but I dont I disagree with them on this I personally think it's just an emotion we feel, people said that he/she has left us but still Allah swt has given our marhoom a body of the fly and has given the permission to him to visit his house.

Jesus H. Christ! That explains that punctual and stubborn afternoon fly that just can't leave my face alone. I bought a big electrocuter machine to attract and kill those by the dozens. I hope all those souls didn't get barbecued along with the bodies. They sure smell odd when they burn.

Flies are attracted to anything they find edible. If your perfume smells sweet, they will buzz around you in a confused state, looking for the sugar that is not there.

Salaam alaykum, thanks for the replies. Even the mocking ones. I used to think ShiaChat was a forum of the Shi'a for discussion. It seems to me that this forum has changed quite a bit since I was on it last which was many many years ago. I had forgotten I posted this and thought I would check to see if anyone had any replies.

@Ali Huzaifa, @Darth Vader -- You should not mock those in search of knowledge. It only highlights your own ill intentions and lack of the desire for knowledge. I was not implying any form of reincarnation. I was merely attempting to identify if there was any significance and draw on any experiences of my fellow Shi'a.

@AnaAmmar1 -- This is my belief as well, that our marhumeen enter barzakh after they pass away. There were other factors in my thinking there might be some significance to what I was experiencing, so I threw the question out there. I figured if I was going to post on any forum it should be ShiaChat.

As with everything, I use the intellect that He swt has given me, and I thought I would ask the question in this forum in case anyone had anything to contribute in terms of knowledge, insight or experience.. Most of what exists in this world we can and will never fully comprehend, and what I was looking for is just some alternative viewpoints. I was hoping they would have been backed up in some form. Most of what I got back was jokes, irrelevant comments, and was passive aggressively mocked. The world we live in is just like this. Occasionally we come across those rare people among the Shi'a that are interested in knowledge and guidance and those people are on a different metaphorical path than the rest.

@Aftahb -- thank you for the link. In it I found the following excerpt below which was interesting. InshaAllah I plan on discussing this with a couple respected scholars I have access to. May Allah swt reward you for taking the time to post a constructive reply to my question.

Salaam we as Muslims belie've in barzak after death until we are brought to Allah for judgement.

We don't believe in reincarnation as some may (aboriginals fir example)

I thunk the fly May be something of natural or maybe Allah is given u some sign... There once was a saying I don't remember to well maybe someone will know what I meant, but it says that isn't it amazing that Allah created such a small creation as a fly and yet us big humans can still be annoyed by it... The meaning as one can oppress and Allah can send a little thing to annoy ones oppressor.

I recently lost my sister.  She passed in her home by falling out of bed.  I spent 8 days there.  Every day a number of flies flew in circles over the spot on carpet.  A bout 2 weeks later i noticed 1 fly hovering in my daily life.  On mirror in bathroom. In my car.  Lighting on my arm.  Flying in circles.  I strongly believe this is my sisters spirit.

The depression and heartbroken emotions after one of your families death may lead anyone to confusion and blame for some reason, but it may be just the smell that the fly is getting attracted to you.

I appreciate your insight.  However currently I am positively experiencing something that is highly spiritual and possibly paranormal.  This began 5 weeks ago.  On numerous occasions in a day or night this fly lands on my arm hand heart dances in living room with one other flying towards me.  Meanwhille 3 cats are there unaware of this experience.  The expression you would like to be a fly on the wall has taken a newer meaning.  I have stopped trying to figure this out.  Just watch it unfold differently daily.  I regret not journaling the first time it happened and all subsequent actions.  However i am thinking about doing the journal from tomorrow forward.  Then as i recall other days jot it down.  Currently i know and feel there is some communication albiet silent is occuring in my life.
