Broke An Oath To Stop Masturbating, Repentance?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Salam,

So in my latest efforts to conquer my desires and urges I took a valid oath to Allah (SWT) to stop masturbation. Needless to say that it did not last long, and I eventually yielded and succumded to my desires.

Does anyone know what sort of act I have to undertake in order to repent for breaking such a vow? I've read on Sistani.org that either I have to feed 60 poor people, free a slave or fast for three consecutive months, yet on the other hand I read that it is only a 3 days fast. I anyone could shed some light on this issue I would very gratefull. I have already e-mailed Sistani.org but apparently it would take a while before they reply.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but this is urgent for me, and thank you.

SaIam brother,

May you be and all of us be forgiven inshaIa. As far as i know, if you have taken an oath, you have to fast for 3 consecutive days. but you have to know that the way uou pronounce the vow matters a lot and if you haven't done it exactly right the oath was invalid to begin with. if on the other hand you made a covenant with AIIah. that is a very serious offence. you have to fast 60 consecutive fasts. read the rules carefully again. read this thread: it does somehow deal with oaths and convenants and somewhere lower down that thread, the rules are also posted.

Go well brother.

One solution I can think of is that men become men and work hard with their hands so the palms are not soft and comfy anymore but instead hard like steel and rough like sand paper. That should, theoretically, solve the problem.

P.S.: Remember to hide dogs, sheep, children etc. from such people.

Hmmm, kinda like some priests that break the oath of Saruman...

Once a break-oather always an oath-breaker... You should cut your hands off, better that than spending an eternity of damnation...

:)

Don't take everything I said literally, or directly analogize my example to anything.

Qiyas = Fail

I just gave an example. He could have masturbated without porn. He couldn't get off without the hand job anymore - most likely because he'd been beating it for years. Said so himself.

The Quran talks about alcohol. It says it has benefits and drawbacks, pros and cons, for mankind. However the cons surpass the pros, and thus avoid.

Please don't use this example to justify making things haram. It itself doesn't make masturbation haram, it's just a way of thinking about the logic of it.

Mut'ah isn't the solution, it's a solution. If one looks at himself and contemplates a bit, he will realize that what he wants is purely from his self (nafs). His nafs is a commanding (ammara) self, which will push him to seek pleasure in the forbidden to satiate. If he understands this, then takes it a step further and places this want in front of our servitude to God, he will see the petite and nonexistent want in light of our servitude to Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì.

One must free himself of these petty wants and see the bigger picture. We live our lives for Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì. It's high time we woke up.

[EDITED]

(salam)

Brother watching pornography is zina (of the eyes) and its haraam. Masturbation is also haraam. Those who masturbate will be punished to deliver children from their fingers on the day of qiyamah.

an obese person could have eaten healthier foods, he could have eaten less pie...so is eating harram ?

Medical experts state it is BENIFICIAL to health in small ammounts. It releases endorphins, counters stress, stops you thinking of sex all the time.

BUT i accept it can , in the absence of a partner, lead to wild desires.

Why do we get houris in jannah ? Why is sexual relations encouraged with the wife? How can you say ' stop thinking about it ' when it's an integral PART of a humans make up ?

Mutah was the ray of hope , but it's been tabooed.

It's been misused and its image marred. This has led to its lowering in the eyes of people. Which is good to an extent.

Besides, why does on have to do mut'ah with a Muslim girl. Were better off with the Christians and Jews, they're perhaps more open to such things, as long as we don't misuse. Which the world tends to do with such gifts.

You're once again taking what I say very literally, regarding the obese example.

As for 'stop thinking about it', just because were encouraged to have sex, and we are gifted houris in heaven doesn't mean that sex must drive our life or control our actions. When one sees the bigger picture these desires no longer exist as controlling or driving forces. They are sidelined. They are secondary. They become pleasure that one can indulge in, rather than one that a person needs to indulge in.

Sex is good. Being sex-crazed and lustful isn't.

Thread cleaned up.

Seriously people just read the OP once and what it's saying, before hijacking any thread which has the 'm' word in it and starting your Mut'a lectures and advices when clearly you haven't tried 'the golden taboo remedy to all problems' yourself.

I have to be honest here, I don't understand why people are so inclined to do this sin. I, as a male, used to be addicted to it much like most boys have been. But then, I stopped. I just stopped and gave it no thought. Whenever thoughts enter your mind, go do something else. That's it.

just remember one thing God is watching your every move. and you are not alone at any moment. so the thing which you cannot do in any public place due to people around, remember that thing God is with you when you doing such acts. May Allah give you and everyone else a power to give up this habit.
