Make Up During Ramadan

In the month of Ramadan how much make up are we allowed to put on?

What I mean is are we allowed to put on lipstick\lipgloss, eyeliner\kohl, foundation powder or cream and eye shadow?

As i have heard, is that it isnt allowed to use makeup during Ramadan.

Because it can break the fasting (my english is bad, i know) and it will make the girl more attractive in front of boys, and thats a no no espesially in this holy month.

But i dont have any sources from hadiths and the Quran, because this is told to me by a friend.

Maybe someone else will explain it further :)

I saw on facebook someone posted a question about kohl and perfume in ramadhan and Ayatollah Sayed Sistani said it is permissible.

Answer 13– there is no harm

Question2 – Is it permissible to put on facial creams while fasting?

Answer 2 – It does not affect fasting.

But the confusing part is that the person said "body." lol does that come in for face?

Please see my reply above. also I believe it is purely in your intention. but like for me if I knew a bunch of stupid guys were annoying me and bothering and trying to shake my hand for no reason then I would stop wearing it to the place that they are lol.

er--is make up allowed in the first place ?--apart from Kohl I mean ? as Kohl is said to be a Sunnah

but lotion/cream and chapstick ( colourless/untinted and non-scented )should not be a problem--

It is normal these days for a woman to put on mascara and make-up, wear rings, necklaces and bracelets for beauty and then go out in front of people in the markets and streets.

Answer :

This is not permissible for her except for mascara and rings provided that she is safe from falling into forbidden activities and does not intend by it to excite non-mahram men.

I don't mean like full make up, basically I have an outdoor job and usually the weather is sunny and I don't like to put sun cream on, so I put foundation and in non Ramadan times lipgloss and mascara...so I wasn't sure if could put foundation on or not

If the foundation isn't noticeable, then I wouldn't imagine there would be a problem with it. Basically, you should just avoid wearing anything that enhances your appearance.

Any particular reason you don't like to put sun cream on though?

1. The first Hadith has all Rijal Thiqat except for al-Qasim bin Urwa who is Majhul, so the Isnad is technically Dhaif.

2. The second Hadith has all Rijal Thiqat except for Sa'dan bin Muslim who is Majhul, so the Isnad is technically Dhaif.

Both Hadith are Dhaif based on their respective Isnad.

Why is kohl allowed? Is it not similar to eye liner? If this the case, does it not make the eyes more attractive?

foundation and eyeliner are fine as far as I know, lip gloss is a no no coz it goes in ur mouth

just put some vasline before u go to bed so ur lips won't be dry

It is allowed because the ahadith say it is. Obviously, as Sayyid Sistani says, if the intention is to attract the attention of non-mahram men, then you shouldn't wear that either.

The smell of the sun cream annoys me a lot and the foundation i use is a powder one and one cant see a difference really

The intention of most people who wear makeup is to "enhance" their appearance and look more attractive, and men WILL be more attracted to a woman when she is wearing makeup as she would obviously look prettier with it..Shouldn't it be haram because it will attract men?

To be honest Kohl hardly does anything to enhance one's appearance, and most girls put it on out of habit instead of any real intention to look good as such----and in my opinion same goes for mascara, though I have never tried to apply it----

Kohl does make a massive difference, and it can be used as an eyeshadow as well as an eyeliner, compare a girl without any makeup to a girl with kohl as eyeshadow and eyeliner, she will certainly look much more attractive with it on, and it shouldn't matter why they are doing it, whether it is out of habit or to impress, it will still attract more male attention.

i think makeup isn't allowed at all, but i guess it shouldn't be a problem if you apply very little so it's not really noticable

lol i don't use kohl instead i apply mascara, it's much less noticeable and kohl makes my eyes look smaller anyway
