Salam alejkum,

Basically I will be going on holiday after ramadan has started, I will be travelling to a country within Europe so the time difference will only be an hour and the journey itself will be 12 hours. I was wondering whether my fast would be valid if I fasted during travelling as I would be more than able to do so.

JazakAllah.

from sayed al-khu'i

1723. A traveller, for whom it is necessary to shorten four units prayers to two units, should not fast However, a traveller who offers full prayers (for example a person who is a traveller by profession or who goes on a journey for an unlawful purpose) should fast while travelling.

How long will you be staying there for?

So it will be or won't? :S

Also furthermore would this mean that I have to offer qasr prayers or full prayers?

JazakAllah.

1732. If a traveller reaches after midday, his home town or a place where he intends to stay for ten days he should not observe fast on that day.

A further question, where is the limit of number of days where you reside somewhere for it to be qasr or normal? I have read that if its less than 15 days you offer qasr? If its more than 15 days normal?

Also while researching just now, lets say that I intended to stay for 9 days, therefore I will have to perform qasr how will this affect my niyyat for fajr? Would I include qasr in all my prayers or all but not fajr?

If you stay less than 10 days it becomes Qasr, however if you stay for 10 days+ then you read full prayers.

JazakAllah sis!

I have a related doubt..

I wanted to fast during these last few days in Shaban as its very highly recommended by Imams (as) , but I am at a place for less than 10 days and so my prayers are shortened. Can I fast? or will it be a sin?
