http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/31/iran-forbids-sunni-eid-prayers Assuming this info is correct (if it isnt can anyone provide evidence to the contrary, saying "its from western media so can't be true" isnt really good enough)), what was the reason behind it?

From guardian

official website of the Sunni community in Iran said

Sunnionline.us

Even if this were true, at least they are not actively murdering innocent Sunnis like is happening to the Shia in neighboring countries. We're actually friendly (shias, I'm not Iranian so I can't speak for them).

Two wrongs don't make a right.

So, if they did it, they were right.

If they didn't do it, they were right.

Whatever they do, they are right.

Lol. Its the irony that we commonly see here. Had they been so for the infallible a.s they would have gained much near Allah azwj.

I'm sorry, but which Eid fell yesterday? I didn't notice any Eid recently.

(bismillah)

(salam)

It was an old news story written last year,Wednesday 31 August 2011. The journalist was talking about Eid-al-Fitr prayer after completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

when discussing it with you thats correct. Because where you are concerned the converse is true (do you want a translation)
