Prob the first time in history this happens and its pathetic and disgusting. Lebanese fans, are banned from watching their National team play , on their own soil. Qatar King "fears" for the safety of his citizens. Anyways read the article its self explanatory. I cant believe how dirty and low the Lebanese government is. No wonder why the country is the way it is.

BEIRUT: Lebanon will kick off their 2014 World Cup qualifying fourth round campaign behind closed doors Sunday against Qatar after the Lebanese government accepted a request from the Qatari government Thursday to bar fans from attending due to security fears.

20,000 people are believed to have bought tickets for Sunday’s clash at the Cite Sportive stadium, all of whom will be now expecting a refund.

The Qatari government had already prohibited its citizens from traveling to Lebanon after clashes took place in Beirut and Tripoli over the last two weeks.

"We have been informed by the highest ranks in the Lebanese army and the security forces that the upcoming match will be played without fans," said Hashem Haidar, president of the Lebanese football federation.

"I am very sorry for this unfortunate decision, but we will never give up trying to convince the highest officials in the state to back down from their decision," he added.

"The presence of the Lebanese crowd is very important for our national team in this advanced stage of the (World Cup) qualification," said Haidar.

Meanwhile, a source within the Lebanese sports and youth ministry stressed that the decision is not an indictment of Lebanon’s supporters but merely a precaution due to the Qatari government’s concern for its nationals. Fans will be allowed to return on June 8 when Lebanon play Uzbekistan in Beirut.

"There's no decision to ban the fans generally, but I am sure the security forces are aware of the situation and preferred that the match take place without fans.

"I think civil peace is more important than a football match. And we have to respect that, no matter how sad and disappointed we are," the source said

Lebanon’s Interior Ministry Allows Spectators to Attend World Cup Qualifier against Qatar

The Lebanese interior ministry allowed Lebanese fans to attend Lebanon’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Qatar in Beirut on Sunday, after an earlier government decision to hold the game without spectators.

The game is scheduled to be held at the Camille Chamoun stadium in Beirut on Sunday.

The decision banning spectators was taken due to the recent security instability in the country and after the government received security and official information that fans may sing chants that may be offensive to Lebanese-Qatari ties during the game.

The Lebanese Football Association has since halted the sale of tickets for the game.

The head of the Association, Hisham Haidar, told Agence France Presse on Thursday that “The national team has united the Lebanese people and the fans are the main factor in this fourth round of qualifiers in order for Lebanon to spring a surprise and reach the World Cup.”

The fourth and final round of the qualifiers are set to take off on Sunday with Lebanon being grouped with Qatar, Iran, South Korea, and Uzbekistan.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup is set to be held in Brazil.

Okay it looks like the Lebs are preparing themselves well for tomorrow in all sportsmanship... I just got a broadcasted message on BBM:

"The brotherly spirit of Sport should be in us this Sunday, as a reminder only, his name is Hamad and his wife's name is Mowzah"...

HAHAHAHA GOLD

I heard every one is taking a banana with them to the game

HAHAHAHA DOUBLE GOLD

I really wish i was there, but i wouldnt be able to handle it if we lost. I think Hamad has bribed the refs, he KNOWS the Lebs will go Bananas (like his wife) and then prob burn him and the whole stadium down.

Insha'Allah a new civil war will erupt because of bananas... I predict the match is going to go well, with the mild slurring of the fans... But if we lose, everyone's going to go bananas...
