This topic has been discussed a good few times & usually leads to lots of interference. One weirdo even screamed "HARAM" at me even though not a single 'marja' says that; their opinions on giving third testimony in tashahud range from recommended through to acceptable (but not with niya'at of wajib) to best avoided (but not a problem if you do).

There are some narrations about the format of third testimony and others stating any time first two are recited the third must be too (but not specific to salaat).

There is at least one narration about it during Paak Nabi's (saww) time but I think that one is from minor sunni sources?

If you need the narrations I can post them up but be warned; all the unity-loving shunnis will come flying out the closet....

would someone be kind enough to tell me what exactly to say for the 3rd perspective. you can message it if you're worried about "unity loving sunnis" :)
