Where To Start?

Salam everyone

I need help with something that gets me frustrated and takes up a lot of my time, when learning about Islam I tend to research for hours about different topics and I end up looking up to much information that it gets me stressful and I don't feel like I learnt anything. So instead, can people tell me what good topics to research and learn about that will help me learn more efficiently rather than going from this to that and getting no where.

I don't really know what I should be learning about so any suggestions that people think are good to start with will be good. If it helps, I'm 16, male and Shia.

read quran persistently(arabic) nd read the translation with lesser stress.

The Qur'an is a good start, read around 20 verses per day and ponder over just one verse a day, and if you can't or want to read less then thats fine, 20 is good but it doesn't mean if you don't do 20 then you can't do any. And if you want to do more that is fine too, but I heard in a lecture for your spiritual journey you should read 20 verses per day and ponder over one verse per day (not sure if it means different verses everyday or if you could do the same verses though I would imagine the former)

I would say another thing that is very important are your acts of worship thus you should take as much time as needed to learn about doing Prayer properly, Wudhu properly, Ghusl properly etc. as ultimately, one of the most important things in Islam is prayer, I personally have seen people do wudhu wrong even though they are way older than me, imagine all those years of their acts being void because they did not learn. Infact, it is an obligation (wajibat) to learn those things which will affect your daily life

Another important thing is your Akhlaaq. The Prophet (pbuh) said I have been sent to perfect Morals (akhlaaq) (or something along those lines) so it goes to show its importance.

One question I want to ask you is, what are you personally interested in learning about? For example for me, I wouldn't find learning about Hijaab of women that interesting since it doesn't apply to me as much as who it's targeted at however the topic of for example the Return of Imam Mahdi (atfs) and End Times is something I find very interesting thus I actually enjoy watching lectures about it etc. so maybe those things you are interested in are good places to explore whilst researching about the more important topics

history> simple facts about prophets stories

fiqh>the most imporant and must know rules of payers and fasting most importantly

aqa'ed>our teaching about Who is Allah, why propehts , why imams

akhlaq>the simple moral and ethical rules of islam, can be studied effeciently by reading teh hadiths about them , most of teh hadiths are clear and need not more explanation

One question I want to ask you is, what are you personally interested in learning about? Yeah I do find the Return of Imam Mahdi (atfs) and End Times interesting and I am currently reading the "2012 Hadith Timeframe, Possible Alignment" topic even though it's a bit complicated it does help because I don't want to go and listen to lectures and read about this and get misleading information. And is the English version of the Quran good because I can't read Arabic and I don't understand that type of Arabic a lot too.

Yes that is a good idea but see you listed too much already. With my studies and all that it gets overwhelming and I don't get anywhere but learning one at a time and taking my time would be good :)

That thread is a good place but I would also advise listening to lectures of scholars, the lectures I posted by Shaykh Khalil Jaffer since the information he gets is from the book The Epoch of Reappearance by Shaykh Ali Korani who is a well known scholar in Iran.

I would say learn the laws of Islam before anything. Might sound a bit dumb, but read the resalah of your Marja. You'll be surprised at how many things you should be doing that you don't and how many things you may be doing in the incorrect method.

You take your acts of worship with you to the grave, so we need to make sure these acts are done in the correct manner.

Other things are up to you - I would perhaps read the biographies of the Masoomeen (as). Anecdotes of their lives always have lessons.

If you want focus on one topic in Islam and don't study anything but that one topic. After you have mastered that topic or understand it fully that in a way your an expert on it move one to another topic. The key to it is like brother debater said you have to find something your interested in. Master All the topics your interested one by one and the less interesting ones will become interesting.

yeah thats the most parts of hawza level one , i dont mean to study all of them deeply at once, just a bit from here and a bit from theer , they are all one after all , islam , prophets stories quraan , laws , theology , well theya re in essence is one

we are just giving you some titles to make it easier

but basically , the goal from this is to worship your god in the vbest way you can , know him and know him first

know his prophet and know the link between you and the heavens , our imams

This may be stupid to ask because I haven't asked my parents about this but am I meant to be following my dads or mums marja since they are both different? What happens if the person that's leading the marja dies, for example Ayatollah Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah? Am I allowed to chose my own?

Yeah I might try and learn Arabic, when I have the time might take some lessons which should help.

Read Quran while searching about the love of Islam... It will lead you to the truth instead of politics. You will then understand the love for ahlul bayt. It is how I began my conversion.
