In this book, the author first discusses what ethics essentially is, and the views of various philosophers and schools of thought on it. After explaining the defects of these philosophies, he presents the view of Imam Ali [a] on ethics as derived from a lengthy treatise that he composed.

This text deals with the importance of the ethical training and education of the human being. As the writer says in the text, technical and scientific development without the ethical development is like building high rises on top of a volcano and is destined to fall miserably.

This text gives an overview of Shi'ite spirituality comparing it with Christian spirituality. In Christianity, the soul becomes spiritual as it is sanctified through the gifts of grace brought by the Holy Spirit as it enters into the soul itself; while spirituality in Islam, is the quality of being inwardly meaningful, and the Muslim becomes spiritual as the mirror of the soul is polished to reflect the image of God, and the soul becomes sanctified as it is led to enter the spiritual realm. In Shi'ite spirituality, the Imams as divine guides are especially prominent.
