I am also interested in learning Farsi - I am already a beginner student, and I know the alphabet.

I wish there was a forum here for that purpose (maybe there is?)

I see the interest in Farsi has been brought up many times over the years.

I think there's some people on here who know Farsi and would be willing to teach it too, myself included.

The problem, as pointed out in another thread by a brother is that it's like teaching someone to drive a car on SC:)

In other words, we can help you with the conversation bit (to an extent) but you're going to need a lot more than that.

I recommend a simple, colloquial Persian book, followed by Farsi movies/TV with subtitles in your language, reading simple children's books and having a conversation partner, preferably in that order.

Also, for people who're just starting out, I recommend Livemocha.com. Worth checking out!
