The commander of the faithful says: “A right which has no one to claim is, indeed, lost”.

Hello everyone, I need some advise. I live in China currently for education and in the university's dormitory building. Frequently, there is much noise from the people that are in the same floor I live in and in other floors also, i.e. shouting and music. From the perspective of Ahlul-Bayt (as) , what would be a good approach to deal with them? The reason I am asking this question is because I do not want to subject my anger to deal with this problem. Should I just keep quiet? Or should I do something? My roommate is also annoyed from the same problem, yet, we are quiet in the moment. He suggested we should live outside the dormitory, however; due to many reasons, it might not be possible.

Thank you.

Wassalam :D

Please if you can provide a story of Ahlul Bayt or a saying, in which they had a similar experience or situation.

I would prefer that...

report them (anonymously) to whoever is in charge of the dorms. its not like theyre going to be kicked out or face hardship because u reported them. theyre just going to get a warning,

if u approach them then theres a chance they wont stop and reporting them after that will make it obvious it was u and may cause u trouble.

sorry, dont have hadiths to back up the advice. it just seems like the common sense way to me.

Hahahaha yeah bro, I understand you. They're really really annoying, but there is something in Islam called "Neighbor's rights" . It is the Ahlul Bayt (a.s)'s hadith, "Be very kind and friendly to your neighbors" . In your case, you can request them kindly. And if they still continue, you can try closing all windows and doors, completely locking them so that noise doesn't come in.

One way to deal with this problem is to complain to the Resident Assistant. He/She will ussually take care of the problem. The noisy group will probably be given warnings.

From what I know of the teaching of Ahl Al Bayt, the first step is to let them know they are bothering you. I remember when I was single and living in an apartment with three other guys. We were probably noisy sometimes. We never had the cops show up but if that happened I would have rather heard from the people we were bothering first. This is just logical.

Find the main person in charge of the apartment, and if not, just someone who lives there. Tell them if they could try to keep the noise down because it is bothering you and you would rather go to them directly rather than get others involved. Most of the time they will respect that. You might have to remind them from time to time. If they ignore you, then go to the dorm supervisor. You have a right to live in a peaceful environment, but you have to be reasonable, I mean you are living in college dorms.

^ "there is much noise from the people that are in the same floor I live in and in other floors also, i.e. shouting and music". it seems like its general noise from lots of different people. kinda difficult to approach lots of people about it. better to make a general complaint and a warning/reminder can be given to all students

Hahaha. I thank everyone for your wonderful posts and suggestions, now, I understand how to deal with them in case they put up the music again.

1) Tell them

2) If failed, report to the resident manager.

3) If failed, throw in the cops.

4) No more steps of failure XD

Thanks everyone!
