How can you discuss such videos with people here at ShiaChat since you don't know Arabic and need a translator to tell you what your sheikh Yasir al-Habib is saying?

So, Yassir al-Habib says do not use mursal hadeeth for fiqh, but it is okay to use mursal hadeeth for `Aqaa'id, Taareekh, etc? That makes no sense, but coming from Yassir al-Habib it makes total sense. I mean, he needs to say this so when he tries to back his beliefs up whether `aqaa'id or history, he can use those da`eef and mursal hadeeth as "proof". So then he can use those da`eef and mursal hadeeth about the Prophet being killed by Abu Bakr and co., and `Aa'ishah being a fornicator.

I think it's only fair to say that this is pretty much what just about all (if not all) contemporary scholars do as well, it's hardly unique to Yassir al-Habib.

I agree to some extent with this. Some contemporary scholars who are not specialists in Aqaa'id and Tareekh read different hadiths and think they can project their readings to the public without further analysis into vast topics.

That is why contradictory points are often heard by different scholars who certainly should not be discussing these matters without more knowledge and in-depth study.

Brother Dawud, i haven't wached it (i neither have the time nor the interest), but i briefly scanned through a few of them.

So my question is, why should we spend hours watching him teach 'ilm al-Rijal when he uses hadiths with weak asaneed all the time?

i honestly thought that he didn't even believe in 'ilm al-Rijal?

If you listen to the lectures, then you would learn the real science understood by someone as knowledgeable as Sheikh Yasser as opposed to the Bakri-fied version served up by many people claiming to be Shi'a today.

Are you serious? You don't even understand Arabic, what makes you think he hit a "home run" with these lectures? Have you ever read any books on `ilm al-Hadeeth to know the differences? How could you even tell what he is saying is correct, if you do not have the slightest knowledge of Shee`ah `ilm al-hadeeth and `ilm al-Rijaal?

I have listened to Yasir al-Habib, and I obviously disagree with his views because I am a "bakri", as he likes to call us. I must admit he does use many ahadith to back his views up. If he is using ahadith, from Shia sources, to back his views up. Then why is he attracting so much controversy?
