Before yesterday, my father brought a lot of shawarma, so for yesterday’s breakfast I has 2 beef shawarma, for lunch I saw we had extra 1 beef shawarma and half chicken fillet sandwich with some fries so I heated them up and ate them, I think I had Fanta as well.

Bismehe Ta3ala

Assalam Alikum

Right now, I'm thinking of all the people who went to sleep hungry.

I see beggers on the street, they are boys who are between 7-12 years old.  They wait when the customers finish their meal, so they can eat the coleslaw.   It would end up in the garbage anyway, so they grab it right before it is thrown out.

The pita bread was for 1,500 LL before the inflammation.  Now, it is for 2,250.

I saw a boy asking people to give him money so his baby sister could have formula.

During fajr time, I hear young boys the age of my children, going through the trash bin to take out plastics, glass, and aluminum cans to sell them to recycling factory.

I hope there is nothing wrong in saying life is not fair.  God give them patience and rizk.

This morning l saw a report from Thailand where most of the material in a landfill was food wrapped in plastic. The person being  interviewed pulled up a plastic bag and opened it to show food that he said, if you washed this you could use it.

Assalam Alikum dear brother

I hope you are well and in great health.

If the poor want to eat meat in the Philippines, some of them resort to pagpag.  I've seen how they prepare the meat, it's unbearable.

La howla wala quwata 2lla bil Allah al 3le al 3dthem.

What is pagpag?

Pagpag is a term given to left-over food, meat picked from garbage and dumps, which is then washed, cooked and sold to poor communities in Manila, Philippines. This is their daily staple food.

These communities are at a very bottom who fail to afford a single meal sometimes. Pagpag can either be eaten immediately or later.

Pagpag has now become a profitable business as sometimes, even restaurant owners buy meat from pagpag collectors.

Dictionary meaning of pagpag: Dusted off, recycled

A bag of pagpag costs around 20P (Philippine Pesos) to P30 ($0.59 to $0.39).

We had spaghetti with beef meatballs for our supper.

I'm about to enjoy my customary evening herbal tea. Today I have Chocolate Rosemary. (I know, it sounds weird, but it's actually quite nice.)

And almost definitely tomorrow morning I'll have coffee with milk.

Speaking of milk, I had some milk which was about to go sour, so I made it into cheese. I liked it but nobody else in my house did. Maybe next time I have old milk I'll try making yogurt instead.

Thanks. l had to look this up to find out what this is. Never heard of it before.

It's tea which includes both rosemary and cocoa shells. I believe the base is honeybush. I don't remember what else is in it, but it's pretty good.

Yesterday I wasn’t in a mood to eat for breakfast, I was planning to skip but then I saw my pizza patee on the table, so I had it. After few hours my father was hungry, he made 2 grilled kashkaval cheese sandwich, he gave me half.

For lunch I had leftover Molokhia with chicken with rice, I think I had a drink with it but I can’t remember.

For dinner my father ordered from one Middle eastern restaurant, he ordered 12 grilled chicken (6 thighs and 6 breast, 3 spicy and 3 original each) 5 side dishes (Corn, Macaroni salad, Hummus, Beets and Tabouleh), 2 family fries, 1 family drink and 10 piece of puri bread. This family meal cost $40, I’m not sure if that’s expensive but I think it’s worth the money. I had 3 puri bread with 2 thighs, 1 breast, tons of fries, hummus and diet cola.

Eating: Orange juice, nibbling on some walnuts, pistachios and dried apricots

Will eat: Qeema with Naan and raita (in about 5 mins)

Some days I really question my metabolism. How can one eat high calorie food non stop and still remain hungry?

Our responses to stress affect our hunger levels. Do you work in a  high-stress environment? I have seen that people who have high-stress lifestyles and are always on the go (e.g. ER doctors, professors, fire fighters,  flight attendants etc.) usually have a constant urge to eat.

Not at the moment. I am a doctor with an easy routine but that's a good observation. I have a busier, more hectic life than most people in general.

Today wasn't mentally stressful but I did quite a lot of work around the house and I think that's the reason.
