Will eat more leftover pizza, I hope.

This has to be tried, for the experience if nothing else:

Homemade Pizza made in a microwave in just a few minutes? Oh yes, and it’s INCREDIBLE! My Microwave Mug Pizza recipe is a serious game changer when it comes to your meals, and maybe life (just sayin’). It is real food, fast, and better than fast food. You will simply not believe the results.

The mug cooking trend started after I already had a small horde to feed. The idea is lovely for people who live alone and want to cook real food.

Ahhhhhhhh . . . no.

First, l'd have to buy a mug.

Then l'd have to buy all these widely varied ingredients.

Then l'd have to assemble all this stuff by  following a hard-to-read-recipe.

Then l'd have to hope my microwave setting is proper so l don't either burn the stuff or have it gurgle and bubble over the rim of the mug.

Then, if successful, l eat this appetizer.

And then cook something else while washing the messy cup up.

Do people still do this?

Don't you put the iPad in the kitchen and pause the Youtube video after each step and just remember to wipe down the iPad screen with a cleaner that won'r ruin it?

l don't have an iPad, Smart-e-phone and l ain't gonna hobble up and down stairs to follow a video.

Thanks for the suggestion.

No I didn't.

When I was 16 I spent a couple of weeks on a language course at the University of Aix-en-Provence. That convinced me that 'going away' to university was not such a great idea. Provence was a great place though.

So I stayed home for the B.Sc., M.Phil. & Ph.D. Luckily I have many world class institutions no more than 40 mins away.

It's very easy and delicious. First, toast the pecans at 425 for just a few minutes. While the pecans are cooling, cut a head of Romaine lettuce into small pieces. Finely chop a little red onion, probably about 2-3 tbs chopped. Crumble or dice about 1/4 lb Feta cheese. Toss in a handful or two of sweetened dried cranberries. I used store bought raspberry vinaigrette this time, but homemade would probably be even better.

How many pecans? Do your children like feta cheese or is this only for you and your husband?

lt is Thanksgiving morning. Ain't you two supposed to be cooking?

:D

This morning before they had any warning, I asked each of my people what is their favorite Thanksgiving food besides turkey. And when each person chose, I informed them that they would be cooking that item. My oldest son mashed potatoes, my second son made a sweet potato casserole, my daughter made pumpkin pies, my youngest son baked rolls, and my husband made green bean casserole. I cooked the turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and I made a corn bread. This worked out much better for me than any feast within the past 20 years, and nobody seemed to mind learning how to make their favorite foods.

All of my kids who like salad like feta cheese, or at least don't dislike it, but I'm sure you could substitute another cheese or leave it out entirely. I didn't measure the pecans. I filled the toaster oven tray, and there were a small handful extra when I thought the salad had enough. I guess it was about 1/2 cup to make salad for four of us. (The two youngest do not eat salads.)

Uhty, l had the TV on this morning for some background and of all things l listened to was a recorded assemblage of Thanksgiving cooking radio interviews. lt was the Food Editor of the New York Times who, besides some snide comments about Norman Rockwell paintings, describe the classic American Thanksgiving table -excluding roIls and corn bread- exactly as you posted.

He also had remarks about immigrants --the family Chinese dish, ltaIian dish, etc-- that he found going with the turkey and mashed potatoes.

He also had one element of advice for the Thanksgiving cook: the cook never does more than one-new-thing; mentioning green bean casserole, pumpkin pie and a couple of other things.

So your Thanksgiving gets my vote for this year's All American . . .

even if you did inadvertently follow the advice of the New York Times

How come no one's posted any Thanksgiving photos?

I had chicken pakora with garlic bread. Am now nibbling on the cookies(?) on the right with a cup of chai.

And here my dear brothers and sisters is a picture from Texas food distribution queue. (I thought would post it myself and save @Haji 2003 the trouble :p)

found a Campbell's Soup mug my ex had in the back of a cabinet.

"Not a cent spent."

My little sister last week sent me over some chili and l ate it out of this mug.

So tonight l  (gasp)  made chili from ~1/4pd of hamburger crumbles l have accumulated. Dumped in a dash of corn oil, a can of beans, a can of mushrooms, a can of diced tomatoes and some spicy stuff. Let it simmer to "very warm." Put in aforementioned mug with some old crackers l found in behind something last year(or so).

l have been snacking rather than eating for the last two days.

Peanut butter sandwich, sauerkraut & cheese, a jelly or two or three, milk & cookies, a fish sandwich with pickles.

The cheapest of junk-food.
