But back then l fried it while today l microwaved it.

Fried in butter is the best. I'm planning "breakfast for supper" tonight. I'd be content with oatmeal and fruit, but my people demand protein. Usually we have beef or turkey "bacon" and eggs, with some bread and potatoes. I like to work in melons if they are available but I've not checked the grocery store yet.

I was going to make some more bamboo shoot pickles, but they still aren't growing this year. I'm sure last year by mid April, we had more than we knew what to do with. Maybe I really have killed them all off. The grapevines just might have a chance after all.

It's called Ashura cereal. I have no recipe, but you'll find lots on the net. It's also available ready made:

Bismehe Ta3ala,

This thread is being lost on SC because of the liquid drowning format.  I still don't understand what was wrong with how it was before.

Assalam Alikum

Around 10 days left before Month of Ramadhan, are we going to close this thread temporarily and open Iftar 1439-2018?

God bless you all.  Try to connect the last three days of sh3ban with the month of Ramadthan as the hadiths have said it is mustahab to do so.

God accept your a3mail.

Is SC community interested to donate dates, bread, or small donations to needy communities?  Maybe through a gofundme campaign or by advertising.  I was thinking countries like Bangladesh, Philippines, Burma, or Shia communities in Malaysa, Iraq, Bahrain, Nigeria.

We have devoted and active members around the world.  Any suggestions?  We need a slogan too.  Shiachat...feeding a family in need.

ShiaChat, more than a MB, a caring community.

What say you?

M3 Salamah, FE AMIN Allah

Salam, Sister. The reason this topic was lost for you is because nobody even replied in the thread for 3 weeks. More popular topics will always rise to the top.

Mods are discussing your suggestion about charity. There is already a plan for the Holy Month of Ramadan at ShiaChat but it's a surprise. :)

This was an evening meal while in Hong Kong. Forgot to bring bowl and spoon so improvised. Used the stirrers as chopsticks which was kinda poetic in the circumstances.

Instant mashed potatoes called Smash. How interesting! Is that canned tuna?

Breakfast: coffee with milk and a peanut butter granola bar.

An apple would be excellent, but we're out. I'll have to shop for more today - we can't have a day without apples.

Tonight's planned supper is

For lunch, we had almond butter and date sandwiches on whole wheat bread. It was very tasty and satisfying. My kids also ate goldfish crackers. I got no picture, but it seems easy to imagine. :)

We'll probably end up having something frozen for supper because my teenage son is refusing to take his turn at washing the dishes, and I'm unwilling to nag. I doubt they'll be done in time to cook, if at all today. He won't be eating until the dishes are done, whatever we have.

Speaking of almonds, a few months ago l found these almond cookies in the store that had no junk in them. No high fructose corn syrup. No unnecessary ingredients dumped in.

Taste pretty good.

Tacos

That's a very unusual looking taco. I'm used to them having only one tortilla each, and the vegetables and cheese and sauce right on top of the meat.

I made my always popular 7-can chili. We keep calling it that even though I can't remember what the 7th can is supposed to be. My people like it, regardless of how many cans of beans, tomatoes, or whatever are in it. It's easy and quick to make too.

The crunchy shell has the meat.

I put vegetables and salsa on the soft taco as a wrap around. Tastes

Got the idea from Taco Bell Gordita except they put cheese:

Hey ...Taco Freaks

You are making me sick. :fever:

If you want something that goes crunch when you eat it . . .

Do it the Amerikan Way: crackers.

Not tacos - crunchy thin bun burgers

@hasanhh what's not to like about tacos? It's like a crumbled cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato and a crisp corn bun. (Or a thin soft wheat bun, depending on your tortilla preference.)

You answered your own question. @ShiaMan14 understands.

I made quick chicken and dumplings for last night's supper. The soup/stew was delicious. The shortcut dumplings were...elusive. So now we know that canned crescent rolls do not make ideal dumplings. The ones that didn't dissolve completely were not fluffy, slimy. They weren't disgusting, at least they didn't ruin the meal this time, but I haven't had much success with dumplings lately.
