Choley bechna is an idiom for someone who doesn't have anything to do, or works like a cowboy. That's probably why it's so popular over there :P

What are you talking about? LOL. Im on about chanay being a snack, and you're still stuck on chawal cholay?

YA Allah, please help this brother.

You know in lahore there is actually a dish called 'chikar cholay'. It's street food and it's immensely popular.

For anyone who doesn't know punjabi chikar means mud.

 Ewwwwww*cringe:tongueangry:

@hayaah The dried ones are called 'bhunay huay chanay'

Anyway, ate sufaid chanay (chickpea curry) with yougurt and roti.

Eating: guavas.

Chikar choley is just like curried chickpeas but cooked until the chickpeas are very soft. So it looks like "mud." Lol

I like them but hardly get a chance to eat them.

@starlight @Heavenly_Silk

Really, "aukha" resists translation. Our Sultan Rahi personifies the Punjabi Gujjar character. But like star said we need a separate thread for that haha

Star, how about Impossible Gujjar? Incredible Gujjar? Pain-in-the-neck Gujjar?

Punjabis have been calling the President, aukha Trump.

Golden Grahams cereal with milk. Admittedly not my best breakfast. I got lazy and I'll make up for it with leftover chicken for lunch.

How is this pronounced? I get the impression it might be better than any English descriptor.

It fits Trump to a tee. He just needs a better dress!

"Kh" like native english speakers pronounce "khan."

Aw-khaa.

Look what I had for lunch. Beh (or bhee). This is lotus root cut and fried and spices added to taste. Very delicious with chikni roti (not paratha).

Right now I'm drinking a fizzy drink tonight after a long while. Diet ginger beer made in England.

Hmmm, how about a cookery programme and we can watch how to make different types of "cholay" starting with chikar. :p
