So if we eat meat everyday for 40 days our heart will be hardening? Or if we don’t eat meat for 40 days? Or both?

I made sweet potato waffles and maple whipped cream. Unfortunately, I shook the whipped cream too much and exploded it all over myself and my kitchen much to the amusement of my family. Fortunately, there was still enough to put on our waffles - which were delicious.

I had a piece of chicken for breakfast, then I went out to my garden and harvested a lot of herbs, of which I, naturally, also ate some. As usual I had coffee with milk.

I have a large pot of already cooked rice with peas that I plan to serve for supper. It is lightly seasoned. Any suggestions for how to make it more appealing and what to add to make it an entire meal? (Maybe more veggies, some peanuts, soy sauce, and egg?)

Some gora dude posted this on twitter and I had to share. First the menu:

E6hXrTvWEAQOhDc?format=jpg&name=large

This is what the £25 (US$34)  dish looks like:

We're being robbed in London. It would be 2-3x that price.

^ I paid $90 for less than half that much for my family the other day. We're being robbed in Southeastern Virginia too.

Looks good though. If I'm ever in Bradford I know where to go.

On closer inspection, I suspect forced perspective.

am I the only one here that loves the food that Allah has ordained nature to give us? Fruits, meat, vegetables.

I have noticed that we are heading more towards processed and unnatural food like artificial sweetners, fast food, all kinds of additives genetically modified organism gmo.

No, definitely not. But real food costs more money and time than processed food.

sadly yes it cost more money, time wise I wouldnt mind.

unfortunately good food is only available for prosperous families and not the average joe or poor and needy. Because they cost a lot more. For example organic food can cost 5+ times more than conventional or gmo food.

This is the world we live in :(

Masoor ki Dahl costs about 10 cents an ounce near where you are (I think):

Add some spices and rice and you are good to go for a few meals in a week. Now it may be more expensive than a Domino's pizza, but Americans have been trained over time to value money over health.

I'm a stay-at-home mom, so I've got time, and both my parents liked to cook from scratch so I learned from them. (They don't use spices though - you know white people - so I've had to learn that on my own.) I'm more privileged than some to know how to and have time to cook. Yes, lots of different kinds of beans are inexpensive, healthy, and versatile. People my age whose parents didn't cook while they were around might have no idea what to do with them.

We had spinach and tomato pesto pasta and garlic bread. I had a recipe to make the sauce from scratch, but while checking my cabinet for herbs I found some pesto sauce that needed to be used before it expires, so I used that. If was acceptable. Next time I'll use the recipe.

Everyone's tastes are different. I like coffee with milk, and I also like tea with nothing in it.

Last night we had egg, avocado, and tomato sandwiches. We're having a 97% vegetarian meals month. So far nobody has complained of the lack of meat, but we've only finished day 4. Tonight's plan is macaroni and cheese with peas.

I just had a vegetarian casserole thing that my mom makes. It's fake ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, tater tots and cheese. Surprisingly good for being so simple.

I forgot about this topic!

Last night we had a family favorite: oatmeal buffet. In addition to oats, I got our blueberries, peaches, raisins, dried cranberries, dried pineapple, cinnamon, pecans, applesauce, maple syrup, honey, and whipped cream. Everyone put wherever they wanted on their oats and was content.

Right now I'm having coffee with milk.

Plan for tonight's supper is beans and rice, but I've not yet decided on seasoning/flavor. All suggestions will be considered (if I see them before I start cooking.)

I had a taco with ground turkey, lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, and hot sauce, then I went to a cooking club meeting at the public library, where the spice being discussed was dill so I had some havarti with dill, crackers, and vegetables with dill cream dip.
