I wonder what these Muslims will say about the Qur'an then? Maybe they will apostate en masse?

Different times and different culture; we've evolved since then; Qur'an was talking about rape, not homosexuality; 'some people' (who aren't experts in Arabic, and just happen to have a certain agenda) interpret those verses differently, blah blah. Some old rubbish.

That's what I most fear. There is great deal of secular Muslims who already prefer the liberal ideology than the Quran and Sunnah. they begin to create an alternative shariah, and therefore try to justify homosexual practice and thst A muslim women can marry non Muslim.

I dont really thing we can call them muslim...

we already have a good portion confusing Muslims in the West, especially the younger ones, who are unsure whether they prefer the secular view of morality or what Islam says. and it is no easier for them when they read articles by so-called Muslims who try to justify a lot of things that go against the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of his Prophet.

Shame on you people for differentiating between Muslims in the west and the east. As if we weren't already discriminated as it is. I think the real threat to Muslims is in the Muslim lands. And claiming secular ideologies are only adapted by Muslims in the west is ignorant. Really, really ignorant.

I agree with you to some extent. Maybe it would be better to say 'Westernised Muslims', but even so the Muslims in the West tend to lead first. Also, they will adopt these ideas in greater numbers than the Muslims in Muslim-majority countries.

There is no discrimination however. I am a Western Muslim, but I just call things as I see them.

I agree brother. Perhaps its because, to be honest, a lot of people don't have the answers on how to resolve it. So all they can to is condemn and walk away.

Removing homosexuality from the DSM by the American Psychiatric Association was one of the worst things that could have happened (in terms of halting the research into the causes of homosexuality). If you look into the reasons why is was removed, like anything these days, it was the result of political lobbying rather than any logical reason. Feel free to explore the NARTH website into their articles that describe the reasons behind the removal (some of which, to be honest, were understandable given the hostility being faced).

Porn addiction wasn't even put on the new DSM 5 due to stupid politics and culture of stupid sex positive. It's disgusting how that halts our progress.

However gambling and video games two behavioral addictions for some reason where included that's ridiculous.

Hi there, I'm a psychologist that stumbled upon your forum because I am working with some gay Muslims who are really struggling, but not because of same-sex attractions (they have already resolved that). Anyway, I felt it was my civic duty to respond to the arguments about the DSM and the removal of homosexuality. I would really suggest researching this well before simply concluding the removal was simply due to sociopolitical pressures. The reality is that like all diagnoses, psychology and psychiatry did extensive research on sexuality prior to making any decisions to remove it. Just to give you a super brief summary, in order to qualify with any "disorder" the condition must invariably cause impairment in important areas of functioning. The field discovered that there were millions of LGB folks that were perfectly happy and functioning without any problems, which flew in the face of the understanding at the time. Impairment that LGBTQ people experience is primarily due to the social stigma and bigotry by society, not their sexual or gender identity (unless they have really internalized that they are in fact bad people). I will also say that the most important factor in mental health is connection. If you choose to be alone, for whatever reason, you are more at risk for developing the many other disorders in the DSM. Warm regards

Although most people including myself thought that it was a psychological problem, according to my research, homosexuality was considered 'normal' by psychologists back in 1973. See 'Out of DSM: Depathologizing Homosexuality' here:

Quote

In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed the diagnosis of “homosexuality” from the second edition of its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). This resulted after comparing competing theories, those that pathologized homosexuality and those that viewed it as normal. In an effort to explain how that decision came about, this paper reviews some historical scientific theories and arguments that first led to the placement of homosexuality in DSM-I and DSM-II as well as alternative theories that eventually led to its removal from DSM III and subsequent editions of the manual. The paper concludes with a discussion of the sociocultural aftermath of that 1973 decision.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4695779/
