These same oil companies are in countries all over the world that do not suffer as nigeria does. The issue is one of government if anything.

You're definitely correct there, what Nigeria needs is some sort of revolution, a true nationalist leader, that'd like you know, get rid of the corrupt Shahs of the country, and bring in a person like Chavez, that'd say, no more exploiting my country through corrupt Nigerians on your payroll, kinda thing :)

Those large corporations, are good at finding corrupt rulers of countries. Like BP's close ties with the Shah. It's like "I scratch your back, you scratch mine", "birds of a same feather", you know the rest.

Watch and learn buddy, watch and learn.

Well, if a country works with democracy, the people will vote for whom they wish. Corperations run corperations, political leaders run nations. They are distinctly seperate, and an oil company like BP cannot dictate the leader of a nation. If the top staff members of an oil and gas company can dictate the leader of a country, then thats one embarassment for a country. And if you have so little organization and control over your government, then ud probably be better off being ran by oil tycoons anyway. Thats not to say that any country ever is though.

Exactly right, agreed 100%, it really is an embarrassment. Which, as previously mentioned, a Nation like Nigeria needs a man like Chavez to set the record straight for their country by kicking out Caldera, and Khomaini booting out the Shah. Glad we agree.

Take heed, 'informed citizens' like these who are kept in the dark about their own backyard is why Iran is in dire need of a nuclear weapon.
