Listening to the Quran is great, having the Quran played in your house is excellent.

Just make sure you remember to do sujood when you hear the relevant verses.

Why would that be haram?? Is it because you may not pay full attention to it? If yes then why have on it to begin with?

These haram questions get worse and worse as time goes by.

To answer your question, there's no problem with listening to the Quran while studying. Simple.

Hamza Bro - we are no Sunnis or Wahabis.

Nothing is Haram until clearly stated that it is.

We follow Rahmatul-lil-Alimeen (pbuh) [He is peace and blessing for infinite universes for infinite times], and Islam is just one reflection of this "rahma" [blessing].

I'm sorry I have a question: When is sujood required when reading the Quran? I'm only a new revert and still learning, so please be very specific if it is at all possible.

stupid question

Hw can sum 1 study while listening some other things too ??

It's called multi-tasking. And he won't necessarily "listen" to the Qur'an but rather have the heavenly audio surround him.

Salaam,

No problem, it's a legitimate question. There are 4 verses in the Quran where prostration is obligatory:

Chapter 32, Verse 15

Chapter 41, Verse 38

Chapter 53, Verse 62

Chapter 96, Verse 19

These are the verses where it's obligatory to prostrate. There are others where it's recommended to prostrate but not a must.

In today's Qurans, the publishers usually mark such verses with a symbol to let the reader know.

If you recite any of these 4 verses, or hear someone else recite them (according to Ayatollah Sistani, this does NOT include recordings on a tape or CD), then you must immediately prostrate. If you forget to prostrate, or realise later that you had to do it, then you must do it there and then when you remember.

Also, you don't need to face the qibla when doing this prostration, nor do you need to be in the state of wudhu (however, it is better if you face qibla and are in the state of wudhu).

Final point - when you prostrate, you don't need to say or recite anything. However, it is recommended to recite some form of dhikr (remembrance) if you can.

Hope that's simple and specific enough.

iIt is NOT HARAM, come on people, he may have been confused with the issue of, concentrating on qu'ran over his study - deeming it 'not good' to not concentrate on study over qu'ran.

Is it haram to listen to Quran while you are studying for an exam??

thanks

Hamza

It is not haram, but you are disrespecting the words of Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì............ For example imagine you are talking with a friend of yours and at the same time you are reading a book........... even though a human and Allah (swt) is not compareable but this example shows you are disrespecting your lords words

I really dont understand the Quran in arabic, When i read the Holy Quran i have a tafeed that i follow along with... so when i listen to it while studying it gives me an extra boost and makes me concentrate more.

I do see where everyone is coming from and they're all good arguments.
