A few months ago, I was debating with myself to either buy a kindle or an IPad. Finally went with the IPad because it is more than just an ebook reader. I can even do a bit of email checking, searching and many other stuffs. Also, when I am traveling, I don't need to carry my laptop because Ipad has everything I need.

I have found the following two softwares very useful, hence I am recommending it here. They are very affordable too.

Please click on the names for further information

GoodReader

You can use IPad2 to do many things. IPad1 was not that great.

I am familiar with the following functions on IPad

Browse Internet

Setting up email account (Mail)

A few organizing tool like calendar..etc

Audio functionality/Video, Youtube, ITunes

Apple ebook reader

and you can buy many other apps from the apple store. The softwares, GoodReader is $4.99 and Office^2 HD is $7.99 in the Apple Store

Here are some statistics

Apple released the first iPad in April 2010, and sold 3 million of the devices in 80 days.[19] During 2010, Apple sold 14.8 million iPads worldwide,[7][8][9] representing 75 percent of tablet PC sales at the end of 2010.[20]

By the release of the iPad 2 in March 2011, more than 15 million iPads had been sold[21] – selling more than all other tablet PCs combined since the iPad's release.[22] In 2011, it is expected to take 83 percent of the tablet computing market share in the United States.[23]

One thing I dislike about IPad2 is lack of USB. So you need to get your documents in via ITunes.

The IPad only supports software that are specifically built for it. I checked the apple store, and they only supports Adobe Nav Photoshop edition. I am not really a Photoshop user so I don't know if it is being supported.

The Office^HD software (mentioned in my first post) is to open and modify word, excel and power point documents. Microsoft has not supported office on IPad. But Apple has a number of its own software with similar functionality like Pages, Keynote etc.
