The third annual Conflict Intensity Index, released by risk analysis and mapping company Maplecroft, rates 12 countries at ‘extreme risk.’ These include Libya and Syria, which are ranked joint 1st alongside Afghanistan, Cote d’Ivoire, Iraq, Pakistan and South Sudan. At equal 8th are Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen, while Egypt and India round off the category.

The color red, orange and yellow is Extreme risk High risk Medium risk

Green is no risk.

Wait, this doesn't make sense! Why is US in medium risk with Saudi and Australia. And how come India is in the Extreme Risk category?

India is extreme risk because of threats of bombs and violence. Look at how many bombs have exploded there in last three years.

It's relative anyway. There is no real hard and fast rule to categorise countries in this manner.

India has the same level of conflict as Pakistan and Afghanistan? China has more conflict than former-Soviet central Asia? Nepal & Bangladesh are more peaceful than India & China?

MEXICO with its drug wars is more peaceful than China, India and Russia?
