can you please give me suggestion for naming a baby girl as other name of Fatima the daughter of Mohammad(saw) and also name for girls or boys of the imams or their children. I don't want the usual popular name such as Ali, Hassan, Fatima since there is a lots of those names in our family, so much that no one know who we are calling who.

We dont want to names them fatima or ali since there WAY too much in our fmaily, i know it good but there is still a limit, when u call someone and everyone turning to u it not good. A name should be beautiful and should be abale to identify you. So we are considering other names that are from ahlulbayt ^_^

thanks everyone for all your help

Congratulations! All of the names here are very beautiful, and you're right that everyone should have a unique name. Also, people sometimes ask Maulanas for suggestions for name so maybe you could do that.

Also, I've always loved the name Laila/Layla. It was the name of one of Imam Hussain's (as) wives.

Or Shahrbano, another one of the Imam's (as) wives. Lubaba is also a nice name, she was the wife of Hazrat Abbas (as).

You don't like Fizza?

It means 'silver' in Arabic, and Fatima (as) even mentioned her in her last words before she died!

Is fatima(as) really called saima? Does it mean fasting ? Why is she called that ?

The meaning is fasting woman, it is probably due to her fasting a lot for the sake of Allah (swt) [i am not 100% sure she did fast a lot, but it's very very very likely, the only reason I say I am not 100% sure is because I haven't seen anywhere say this but logically it makes sense]

Iraqis butcher that name too :P

lich iskaynaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Edit: I always liked the names Maytham, Murtadha, Dhul Fiqar, (might have trouble in the West with that though) Haidar, and Kadhim (also happens to be the name of my father's younger brother who died in the '91 revolution). I would definitely name at least one of my sons Ali, even though it is common. I would be honored to have an Ali someday

For girls I like Fadak, Hawraa, Layla, and Ghadeer

- 99 names, I am sure you can find a unique one among them

Congrats!

Congratulations! InshaAllah you will have an easy delivery and a healthy baby! I love the fact that you're going to name your child a name after a member of Ahlul Bayt (as). People nowadays are following trends and naming their children strange names. Consider names of the prophets as well!

Female names: Zainab, Hawraa, Maryam, Asia, Jannah, Salsabeal, Duaa.

Male: consider joint names, you can get creative with these. A simple exampe is Mohammad Ali. Ridha, Murtdha, Zain al abideen (not zain please!!) mojtaba, jafar, Hayder, Hashem, Yacoub, Isa, Yousef, Ibrahim.

Good luck!!
