(bismillah)

(salam)

Would it be makrooh to listen to latmiya on days of happiness? i.e. Imam Reza (as) Birthday

Posted

The farsi one sounds like it has music in it so I stopped listening to it :donno:

as for the arabic ones I think I prefer the second one :D

The farsi one is actually my favorite.

Below is another farsi nasheed.

(let me know if it has music. I don't get what you mean by it has music to be quite frank. You mean musical instruments?

Good question. I doubt it though because 'Every day is Ashura and every land is Karbala.' (I actually have no idea !).

This saying was brought by Khomeini therefore it doesn't have a solid foundation to it. The hadith is actually there is no day like yours Ya Aba Abdillah (as).

Just to inform - that saying is normally wrongly attributed to Imam Sadiq (as).

It is a very beautiful statement, but it's not from the Imams (as).

You might know this already but just in case others don't know.

Thank you for the clarification. I actually didn't know that.

It is not haram to listen to the masaib of the Masoomeen [a] during the days of joy, e.g. their birthdays. But to listen to it as an enjoyment is disrespectful to the Masoomeen [a] and therefore haram.

Imam Reza (as) said "If it makes you happy (and you desire) to be with us in the elevated ranks of paradise, then be sad in our grief and happy at our happiness." [Wasaail al-Shia, V14, Pg.502]

From this, we can see that the birthday of an Imam of Ahlulbayt (as) should be a joyous day, because it was a joyous day for the Ahlulbayt (as).

For example, Imam Musa Kadhim (as) would have been happy when his son Imam Reza (as) was born, so we should also be happy on that day.

Imam Ali bin Abi Talib [as] said:

"Surely, Allah has chosen for us followers (Shia), who assist us and are happy at our happiness and are sad at our sadness".

Ghuraral Hikam, Volume 1 page 135

Similarly we read that Imam Raza [as] once said Ibn Shabib:

"O Son of Shabib! If it makes you happy (and you desire) to be with us in the elevated ranks of paradise, then be sad at our grief and happy at our

happiness."

I absolutely love this nasheed. A couple of years ago I was obsessed with it and would listen to it wherever I went, multiple times.
