Hello everyone, Im a shia muslim converted about 6 month ago. I have a very very close friend that feels like a syster, she is now abroad, she was travelling for the last year. Right now im not touching or kissing any girl, only on cases like a job interview where you have to have physical contact with the recruitment girl, but other than that, no contact at all. I wonder if there is a way she can be halal like a syster to me, cause I really feel it like that.

Thanks to everyone.

Im not sure what you mean. How is it you want your relationship to be different? you mean you want to be able to interact with her with more freedom like you would with a sister? you could marry her, that way you can be free in your speech and physical interactions, you dont have to make it sexual just because youre married.

OP i dont know if you realised this, but it is possible to have a friendship with a girl without committing any haram. you dont need to make anyone your sister, mother or daughter to do this.

all else fails, marry her.

Sure? I think you should read this: http://www.islamicin...st-friends.html

of course i am sure; we cant live in this day and age without interacting with people of the opposite sex. this strict separation of the sexes wasnt present at the times of the imams (as).

The OP did not say interacting .. he said FRIENDSHIP, which changes the context of the interaction.

Does this sound bhooka-ish? :shifty:

Man la yahdhuruhul faqih

ونهى ان تتكلم المرأة عند غير زوجها او غير ذى محرم منها اكثر من خمس كلمات مما لابد لها منه

Prophet(PBUH) said "............And it's not allowed that the woman speak with other than her husband or other than her mahram more than 5 words when there's no alternative for her from it.............."

peace, im out.

to the OP (talib_fex) For a nice article on Women In a Qur'anic Society (discusses interaction etc) you may want to read this: http://www.al-islam.org/al-tawhid/women-society.htm

well...uh....you and all the sisters better get off shiachat as fast as possible then or risk the wrath of the prophet (pbuh) ;)

there is no brotherhood between the wolf and the sheep lol

am joking

just marry her temporary marriage

there are other difficult ways of tahreem but they are not realistic and they will prevent you from ever being able to marry her in the future

and the worse of the methods of tahreem is the sunnie way , excuse the language (breastfeeding the adult ) lol

salaam

I'm sure you are joking here brother. This one is totally haram. Human milk for an adult is haram to consume let alone for enough length of time that he/she could considered to be mahram. ewww.. What was Aisha, the disobedient wife of Prophet (pbuh), thinking when she made this judgement. but then again idle/ignorant/hateful minds think perverted things.

OP Islam does not recognize any "word of mouth" relations of SISTER, MOTHER, SON etc. To prove this, Prophet (pbuh) married the widowed wife of Zayd, who was supposedly the "word of mouth" son of prophet (pbuh) but had no real blood or family relationship with Prophet (pbuh).

In other words, you can not proclaim a random friend Miss. X to be your sister and go see her without hijab or hug her Eid Greetings on the day of Eid. Same goes for women, they can not pick a random Mr. Y to be their brother and take off their hijab in front of him or hold his hand in brotherly/sisterly fashion.

by the way i dont want to marry her, i just want to be able to hug her or kiss her on her cheeks, again shes like a sister to me, the only thought of having sex with her is disgusting.

If she is not your blood mahram,(that is your sister from the same father), no you can not even see her without proper hijab, no you can not touch her, no you can not kiss her anywhere. NO Physical contact.

Unless of course you want to do HARAM, be sinful in front of Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì, be considered a zani, are ready to close the doors of mercy and livelihood on you.

marriage doesn't always mean sexual relation

you can have a temporary marriage just to make a nonsexual relation

its simple , just a few words and it does not need witensses or anything

if you need the wording we can tell you

you can explain to her, look am following this religion that doesn't allow non prohibited (non blood relatives ) to be together closely so we have to contract a mrriage contract for that to be possible

temporary marriage contract can end at any time and it has no divorce or any problem

salaam

Forgot to tell one more thing... It is HARAM for you to even be in the same room with her when there is no chance that someone could abruptly come in.

Just to correct that. The hurmah of khalwah applies only if there is fear of falling in sin, otherwise it isn't.

OP, there isn't really a way for her to become your sister in Islam, just how its impossible for her to be your sister otherwise. It simply isn't that. But, if you love her like a sister then you should do everything you can to guide her on the straight path, on one condition, if it isn't at the expense of you committing sin. You can try and make the time you guys spend together (without physical contact, being alone together, or other haram means) revolve around how much Islam has effected your way of life.

The other posters above explained that temporary marriage isn't only for sexual purposes.
