Convert With A Question About Mutah

Sallam

In regards to Mutah, am I within my rights to ask him to tell his parents that he is going to be in a temporary marriage with me?

jazakallah

(salam)

I'm surprised that no one answered this. Based on Islamic law and the fatwas of the majority of Marajas, the only parents entitled upon knowing about Mutah are those of the girl if she is a virgin (i.e. if she has not permanently married before, no relevance to sexual virginity whatsoever).

Islamically, it is not your right. However, it could be your option to do so.

If your not ashamed or embarresed by Allah who are the Family comparedn to God??

Parents are concerned about what may happen like emotions hurt, disease and babies. Many girls and boys are not mature enough to consider that these things can happen. It is right for parents to want to protect their children in case of problems to have after the mutah is over. The girl or boy only cares about today but the parent is wise so cares about tomorrow. Most kids in mutah do not want to hear the concerns of the parent so keep it secret.

mutah is only allowed in 12er branch of shiism .the other two branches of shiism ( zaydia and ismailia) do not allow mutah to be practised.

In case you hadn't noticed this is a 12er forum, so what deviant sects such as sunnis, zaydis, and ismaelis believe is irrelevant.

And what business does a Sunni who doesn't believe in Mutah himself have in wandering around sub-forums he doesn't belong in? Please keep your long and ugly nose out of other people's business kthnx

I am actually of age, I have been looking into mutah and it's implications and I was unable to find an answer to this questions. I don't think my parents have any say over the matter because they are not Muslims. I am the only one in my family, so situations like mutah are hard for me to figure out.

Thank you for all of your responses.

Salam sister.

Please be careful of Mutah. I speak from experience, and I have been burnt. Mutah for a women unless it is done with the very likely outcome of leading to permanent marriage, is a very tricky situation. We get hurt. I'm all in agreeance with the existence of Mutah, but it can lead to a situation where you are hidden in secrecy, and shunned from the community for doing something that whilst is Islamically correct, is not culturally accepted. I'm happy to provide you with my experiences, but I have been burnt and I am yet I am a well educated and intelligent woman who had been tricked into expecting more.

Just beware and know what you are getting into.

you should not expect more when its temporary unless you have been promised that it would turn into permanent.

I agree about the cowardly secret mutas keeping the women hidden like as if they are committing a crime,, I think one of the conditions a woman can say is not to be secret because that will ruin her reputation and subject her to false accusation from a ruthless society

When I was engaged under mut3a I announced and Even when I practiced multiple marriage We announced in order to break the Evil culture but majority of people use secrecy for polygyny and mut3a because they are probably just concerned with the approval of the people and the benefit of the law not concerned with promoting the law and making it easier for others to practice , ( reviving the sunnah)

its mustahab in islam to announce marriage for the sake of promoting the good act, the only thing your not supposed to announce and promote is your sins and crimes not your good act!!!!

I have actually decided against it because I do not know for sure if this is going to lead to a permanent marriage, and because he wants to keep it a secret. It is not the right time for any type of marriage whether it is temporary or permanent.

شكرا جزيلا

There is no harm if you have decided to do so. After all, Mutah is halaal, not wajib :)
