Ayatollah Sistani's representative in south Iraq, Shaykh Ali al-Samawi, during a visit to the head of the Academy of Rational Philosophy Shaykh Ayman al-Masri, expressed his support for the efforts that the Academy is pursuing.

The representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali al-Sistani said that the Qur'an and Sunnah both emphasized in more than 200 instances the role of the human intellect/mind. His eminence also mentioned that there has been a persistent attack on the intellectual path throughout history. He added that the foundation and roots of the Islamic Shari'a are based on rational foundations.
