(salam)

In those first years when facebook started i joined and was very quickly addicted to it! Wasting some very important study hours on facebook was baaad.

But when our country blocked it alhamdulelah i stopped using it. Then when i wanted to go back i heard that facebook lets anti-islam pages etc etc be posted but very quickly deletes any anti-zionism ones!

Thats when i started to think would it be haram to join facebook? Because its working against islam (i would call it fighting islam) and us joining facebook would just help them in this matter?

I want to join with a fake name, just to be in contact with my friends on shiachat and get more than now from the shia world.

Thanx

:)

It's not haraam but the way you use it can make it haraam. If you use it to eye up women/men, backbite, spy, post provocative pictures etc, then it's haraam.

If you use it to keep in touch with your friends, share your pictures, spread Islam, discuss things etc, then it's fine, just remember to keep within the Islamic boundaries mentioned above.

There are many anti-Islamic groups on it, but there are just as many Shia//anti-oppression/Islamic pages on it - everyone expresses their opinion freely so I don't know if you can call that fighting against Islam because the same means can be used to promote Islam.

The means isn't haraam, the intentions might be.

It's like a knife - you can't call a knife haraam. But if you use it to kill someone, then it's haraam, but when it's used to cut fruit, then it's allowed.

Dear bro,

asalamu alikum , there are several other ways you can keep intouch with your friends through email , live messengers rather then using a website with no privacy where any one can post any sort of links.. image ,videos ..etc, you can create your own blogs using various bloggers and other means. i guess you know what the footsteps of shiatan is, and there is no positive gains indulging in negative activities.

O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (satan). Verily! He is to you a plain enemy.(Al Qur’an 2:208).

Er, facebook is haram. The Prophet (pbuh) didn't use it.

Dear bro,

asalamu alikum , be careful about saying something is haram , only thing which is haram is what is clearly specified in qurhan and sahih hadidh.

in otherways you can say it is not allowed to do.

I know some Iranians who are bypassing the government censorship. Don't really know how it is done.

Hossein, technology is not always evil. It always depends on how it is being used. If you think it can lead you to haram activities then you should stay away from it. If it wastes your time then you need to better control yourself. One way is limiting the amount of time you spend on the facebook. How about login in only once a week and spending no more than 15 minutes per week?

It's all about control.

Done. I voted and left a comment.

Caps lock is bidah. As well, I believe it may be shirk.
