sorry if this is a dead horse question, buy I read in another post about a story where 5 fornicators were punished. The first and second were killed and I think the otheres severely punished as well.

My question is why were they killed if from what I heard there is always a chance to repent as long as it wasnt shirk. This is confusing I keep seeing these stories about people being put to death over adultry and other sins but then I read in the quaran about if we had sin built to the sky god would forgive us if we turned to him sincerely and repented.

I keep getting conflicting stories on this forum and this is important to me because ive committed major sexual sin and im sincerely trying to stop all my sins and get close to god, its been great I feel like im starting to alot better, but if I would have been beheaded or should be beheaded then this getting close to god is all trivial because I shouldnt even be alive.

Im getting confused and the thought that I shouldnt even be here takes alot of that hope away from me. and makes me feel like god isnt gunna let me redeem myself please help clarify this all for me please.

slam....

dear um not a scholar... so my answer may not satisfy you... but i will share my point of view with you...

Allah is just... no doubt... and justice is that... sinner must be punished...

but on the other hand Allah is THE MOST MERCIFUL... if you go for "tauba" with purity of heart...

" HE will 'reduce' the punishment...or HE 'may' forgive the sinner... "

the only way of forgiveness is to give up the bad deeds...

...

now... the punishment in this world like stoning... is also a part of His justice and mercy...

if you are punished... its justice.... and the punishment of this world is nothing to those of hereafter... so it is His mercy that He still wants to save you from the bigger punishments... got it...

and You are very lucky that He has showered HIS blessings upon You... and shown You the right path... He still wants you to be His " ABD " so dont miss this chance....

may Allah bless you

I'm not sure which thread you are referring to, but in Islam a person can only be punished for fornication/adultery if it is witnessed by 4 just witnesses or if he repeatedly confesses of his own free will. Now, they might be using a lesser burden of proof in certain 'islamic' countries, but that doesn't make it part of Islam.

Since your sin was private, you should keep it that way. Just repent sincerely to Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì. The punishments are only for those who are shameless enough to do these thing in front of 4 people, or that for some reason feel like confessing. Make no mistake however, the sin is extremely serious, which is reflected in the punishment for those that are proven to have committed the act.

it is killing me. I became a muslim maybe 8 years ago I live in california and I came from a non muslim family.

I started out strong and for a few years stayed that way, then fell from the path. Brcause I felt id never be forgiven I wandered in sin.

recently I was told I can be forgiven and I was so overjoyed I got right back into it stronger then ever with prayers and hope avoiding even the gaze of women stopped doing most my sins, it didnt even feel hard I taught myself to read arabic (cant understand the words yet) but it felt like I was on the right path.

after finding out I should be dead or lashed 100 times it felt like ive been punched in the stomach and even worse I went from a feeling of balance fear/hope to almost no hope at all. when I dont have hope the worse thing is I feel like im not able to get close to god. and I think that hurts the most I feel like ive just been derailed.

if thats so... u really are a lucky one... after getting in Islam... your previous sins are forgiven... it bcomes like you are a newly born baby... but after embracing islam.. the comitted sins can also be forgiven.. u have got a huge chance to get on it again... read Surah NIsa Ayah 15 to 18... it will be helpful....

And dont forget the mercy Of Allah THE MERCIFUL

its just hard to keep hope alive knowing people have been killed for what I've done, what makes me any different from them why should I get a second chance to redeem myself yet they didn't. I feel like part of my iman was torn from me. It hurts.

Here are the possible differences:

1) You didn't do it in front of 4 witnesses and they did.

2) You didn't confess (which you are discouraged from doing btw), and they did.

3) You didn't suffer a miscarriage of justice from an unislamic court, and they did.

In any case, you have nothing to feel guilty about on this level. Just concentrate on repenting for your sins, and get on with your life.

By the way, unless you were married and committed adultery, the death penalty wouldn't apply. You would just be lashed.

Those who do not follow welayat al Faqeeh hold it necessary that Capital punishment is only to be applied by a Ma'soom (i.e. in this case, only Imam Mahdi [a.s])

And before somebody quotes fatwas from Sayeed Al-Khoei'i, remember that these are just "ahkam" and him quoting them does not necessarily mean that he can apply them, as a normal human being. Again, majority of our Ulama are not followers of "Wilayat Al Faqeeh" and believe that Capital Punishment is only to be applied in an ISLAMIC (purely Islamic) government lead by a Ma'soom.

Full stop.
