I don't really see the point in comparing them on physical levels, isn't Imam Ali (A.S) supposed to be just like The Prophet (S.A.W) in all respects? Our Nabi (S) is meant to be a mercy to mankind, and his message was to bring peace. Physical strength was left to our Imam (A) in terms of how Allah (S.W.T) decreed things to go. I suppose if you really wanted to compare them, Rasoullah (S) would come out on top always because he's above Ali (A) in all respects.

Brother, this is an extremely pointless question. You should try to focus on more important issues rather than indulge in superficial matters.

To answer your question though, the superiority of the Ma'someen to other human beings is undoubted. However, between themselves, they are in levels too. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) is superior to Imam Ali and any other human being in all walks of life. Physically included of course. Don't think that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) was always only preaching and being an example for others in certain fields only. He went to battle himself on many many occasions and fought fiercely when it was necessary to defend.

If you are thinking about instants like the battle of Khaybar and Khandaq, the Holy Prophet didn't himself fight Marhab and Amr not because he was insufficient, but because he wanted to prove a point to the Muslims at his time and forever, that "O Muslims, Ali is the commander after me."

Again bro. I would like to emphasise on the importance of sticking to more essential matters that would actually make a change in our lives.

w Salaam!

my sunni friend ansked me once and i couldn't answer him:S

[EDITED]

Please brother, there is no need to curse.. you asked a question and you found the answer.

You're in the Netherlands, so I am guessing that you're fasting now? Do you think your fast

would be accepted with this profanity and sudden anger?

I guess some replies weren't too constructive, but there is no need to be angry like that...

Alsalam alikum,

I noticed many of his threads that he created and his posts too, so I concluded that he is just wasting his and our time here, so please don't give him a big attention.

Also, if compared him to other reverts here, you will see a big difference. Instead of unmeaningful questions such as: Islamic laws, he just ask unmeaningful questions. What is really happening here? It is really a ridiculous.

I don't see him that man who are trying to learn about his religion.

Sorry, this is my opinion and I'm sure there are members who agree with me.

So, please don't waste your precious time in this great month with such questions.

^I think he is just young

I agree.

There is no need to be harsh like that.

Come on, people. Think about it this way.

When we go to scholars and maraji'i and ask them about

all sorts of things, trivial and not, how would you feel if they

would respond with a harsh and inconsiderate reply?

Certainly, matters that we, as the general Muslims, may find puzzling,

to them the answer is known. But, you don't see them kicking out all

those who ask them even the silliest of questions, do you?

Now, as I said before, it's very important to stick more important manners, dear OP.

But, please people don't act too harshly to him.

Think about the consequences of him receiving treatment like this from people

who claim to represent Islam. He would certainly hate the religion and that would

be your fault in the eyes of Allah on the day of Judgment.

Think about what the Holy Prophet (pbuh) would do. :-)

Sometimes, ill-mannered people of Medina would knock on the door

of the Holy Prophet after midnight to speak to him about silly topics.

He always smiled and never turned his face away. He would stand there

and have a conversation until the person on the other end greets him

and goes satisfied.

Peace!

^ Agreed.

Wow, cmon people. Everyone asks questions based upon their own level of understanding, and you can't expect everyone to be on the same level as you. Have some patience..

As for the actual question, I found a hadith that kinda relates to this. (About the authenticity of the hadith however, I am not so sure):

"Abu-Hurayrah has been quoted by Khawarizmi as saying: "The Messenger of Allah on the day of conquest of Mecca said to `Ali: Can you see the idol on the top of Ka` bah? `Ali said: Yes. The Holy Prophet said: To unseat and to overthrow it, I have to raise you! `Ali said: O Messenger of Allah! Should you allow, I will raise you. The Messenger of Allah said: If the tribes of Rabi`ah and Mudar join hands and wish to put any part of my body on their shoulders they will never be able to do so! But you, Ali! Rise up." Manaqib, ibn Shahr Ashub, vol. 1, pp. 135

I think it's important to just understand that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) is indeed beyond comparison. I hope this helps in any way.

(salam),

O you who believe! do not put questions about things which if declared to you may trouble you, and if you question about them when the Quran is being revealed, they shall be declared to you; Allah pardons this, and Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing.

قَدْ سَأَلَهَا قَوْمٌ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحُوا بِهَا كَافِرِينَ

A people before you indeed asked such questions, and then became disbelievers on account of them. (5:101-102)

From al-Kafi, Volume 1

"Abu Ja'far (a.s.), said, 'When I tell you anything, you should ask me for its authority from the Book of Allah.' Thereafter he said in one of his talks, 'Verily the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) had forbidden idle talk, squandering of wealth and excessive questioning.' It was said to him, 'O Son of the Messenger of Allah! Where is it from the Book of Allah?' He said, 'Verily Allah, the Mighty, the Great, says: There is no good in most of their secret talks except (in his) who enjoins charity or goodness or reconciliation between people [4:114]; and He has said: And do not give away your property which Allah has made for you a (means of) support to the weak of understanding [4:5]; and He has said: do not put questions about things which if declared to you may trouble you.'" [5:101]

That been quoted (and Insha`Allah well-pondered upon and understood), the thread will take us no where except towards fighting, insults and resentment (as is already apparent). We encourage members to be patient with other members and to avoid being callow when replying to threads (or appropriate action will be taken against them).
