Salaam Alaikom dear brothers and sisters.

I have a question concerning this Why did Allah create human beings and this world?

For Allah has no Need in himself to create, so what caused this happen?

And what's the purpose of human and other creatures in Takwin?

May anyone please try to answer this question?

May Allah bless you all in this blessed month of Ramadan inshaAllah.

I always found this to be rather a contradiction.

God needs no one to worship him. He didn't need to bother creating us, he could of just made all kinds of other mythical creations to entertain himself, not to say god needs any of these things.

It begs the question indeed, why create us?

I find it strange that he created us, brought us into existence, we go through so much suffering, pain and joy in this life, only so can test the very things he created to determine whether they get into heaven or not. The very heaven he also created just for us and inhabits.

It seems almost paradoxical to me.

-He created us due to his Mercy. It's for our benefit and not His.

-One may respond by saying what if I didn't want to be created? You could reply by saying that God isn't going to create you and THEN ask you permission, that would be illogical.

-He created us to test us so that we may benefit from His rewards in the afterlife (or vice versa - you can feel His wrath if you are evil).

-He created us simply to obey Him.

But God doesn't "need" us to obey him. God doesn't have emotions does he?

It is the essence of human beings that they are ungrateful. We do not realise the true value of something until we have lost it. You probably dont spend even a moment of your day thinking about your eyesight, but if you suffered an accident (God forbid) and lost your eysesight, you would think about it everyday of your life and think how you would give anything to just be able to see the colour of the sky again. We rush out of the house and go to work every morning. Not once do we think about the legs that are working perfectly to get you to the door. But ask people who will have lost the use of their legs and cant walk, about how they would give anything just to be able to walk to the bathroom or even around their house just one more time.

Similarly we have been given life and have been created. It is difficult to truly contemplate "non-existence" but it is a similar analogy. If you were to, hypothetically, be able to lose your existence and then become aware of your own nothingness, you would only then dispair and realise just how much of a wonderful gift your own existence was and you would plead for God to create you again. For us, this is a hypothetical situation. But for God, he KNOWS just how much of a gift it is for you.

He created us out of his mercy and love. And existence as opposed to being in nothingness is truly a blessing. A shame we dont realise.

Apart from mentioning that it was out of his mercy that God created us, the Quran also mentions we were created to worship Him. So that means to KNOW him. To grow closer to Him. This itself is an honour. God does not need us, this is explicitly mentioned in the Quran in countless places. He is free from all his creation. In fact if all the mankind and Jinn were to rebel against God, it would not diminish His Kingdom in the slightest.

alaikum salam

thanks for the replies

I've asked this question in some other places, one of the replies is this:

to ask the question "What's the purpose of God for creating" is not a correct question itself, due to the following reasons

1.to have a "purpose" implies that one has a need or has a defect,by doing certain actions one fulfill his need or remove his defect.

2.God doesn't have a Need nor Defect,so "purpose" is meaningless for God,and God IS the purpose himself for every other things.

3.God is Perfect and Merciful, He did not create the universe due to a certain purpose, but rather because of His Mercy and Perfectness.

As the discussions go on, here come 2 questions:

1.God is not limited by time,He is the first and the last.At the same time, God does not change. So if God is to create,He must create at the very begining, and this means His creature is just as infinite in time as God Himself.

2.Some people say that God created them without asking their opinion whether they want to be created and be tested or not, and gave them this religion and commands to follow. It's a hard test and they can't tolerate, at the same time there is hell and punishment in the hereafter,if they were given a chance to choose, they would have chosen not to come to this world.

for the first arguement, the one who gave me above reply agreed with this that God's creature is also infinite, but he couldn't explain properly what was the very first creature of God.

for the second arguement, though member yahossein gave an answer, but this doesn't seem to be correct for those who had committed suicide.

In the Holy Quran,we see that Allah says that He didn't create Human beings and Jinns except for worshiping Him. This goes to the purpose of Tashri' of human beings, and one can choose to follow or not.

But for the purpose of Takwin, one can't choose to follow or not,the question still remains that What's the purpose of human beings and other creatures in Takwin?

Salaam Alaikom dear brothers and sisters.

I have a question concerning this Why did Allah create human beings and this world?

Allaah (SWT) answers this very question very beautiful in the Qur'aan. Very rarely does Allaah speak in first person, this is one of the times that he does.

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

[surah al-Dhaariyaat (51) : Verse 56] - "And I have not created the Jinn and Ins (Mankind) except that they worship (Me)"

Here are Muwaththaq (Reliable) Hadeeth that explains this verse. This is taken from al-Sadooq's `ilal al-Sharaa'i, under Chapter 9, which is titled "Chapter on the reason He created creation, and the difference in their condition" (9- باب علة خلق الخلق و اختلاف أحوالهم)

From Jameel bin Darraaj from Abee `Abd Allaah (عليه السلام) said, I asked him (عليه السلام) about the words of Allaah (عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ): “And I have not created the Jinn and the Ins (Men) except that they worship (Me) (51:56), he (عليه السلام) said: ‘He created them for worship (`ibaadah)’, I (the narrator) said: ‘Specifically or generally?’ He (عليه السلام) said: “No, rather generally”

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem

We are gifted with countless gifts from ALLAAH
through his
mercy as he is the Arahman(the most
gracious in a sense
that everything exists by his
mercy). And he is the
Araheem(in a sense of doing
justice after all of his mercy
that he has given us
to remind us that he is always fair
to us creatures
in his law of cause and effect that
depends on his mercy
again, and in the day of judgement).
Both names
refer to his mercy but there is a big
difference but
they both complete the meaning or the
essence of mercy of one
another that will be explained later.
These names are
always mentioned in the very first or the
beginning
of the chapters of the Holy Quran. Why? It is
because
Allaah is saying that he is just and we must
always
remember that for us not to question him in his
commands

for he commanded it to us for our benefits.

If we are just aware of why we are gifted with such
beautiful gifts from ALLAAH such as our hearts and the
ability to
think. Contemplate,...we have the ability to
think,
to contemplate until we would realize that we must
not have something we do not deserve yet because of
he is
the Arahman(the most gracious) he gave us
everything we
have as a gift. And another question is
why he have given
it to us without our willingness or
without asking us
first? An illogical  question for
the reason that we are
not yet created so how he
could ask our permission first
and yet he is superior
 to the creations? But this
question  put us to the
answer of why he created us, he
is the creator so he
knows our needs even before he
created us. he knows
that we need his mercy and we cannot
question his
knowledge. he has given us the existence
with the
gift of life and with the cycle and law of
nature. He
has not given us only existence for existence
alone
with nothing else has no value so he gave us
purpose
in this creation. And then we would realize
another
question that "Yes we cannot question his
knowledge
for he knows everything, but he is needless. He
do
not need us or even our deeds?" An another illogical question for how
we
could think of that question cause again, he is
the
creator and we are part of creations that the
creation is
always in need of the creator and not
that "He is the
creator so he need us creatures to
 complete his title as
being the creator that how we
could call him as the
creator if he do not have
creations?" Another illogical
question that answers
it too. cause even he did not
create any of his
creations, still he is needless even we
do not call him creator or even he has not created anything.
And
that is why,...he don't need anything so how we could
question him of why he created us, he is not even in
need
of our questions for him to answer our questions
 but
still he answered us why but he did not answer
d all of us
and yet he is always fair. It is like the
knowledge and
understanding like we know that we are
created with
purpose in this life that "He want us to
be his slave but
in a deep sense and in a sense of
being a creature that
is grateful to him." And that
is the best answer, we know
things but we do not
understand. And Why? Even you are
the most intelligent
human being gifted with the highest
ability to
think, still you would not understand the purpose
of life
even you know all of these things. Cause Allaah
told
in the Quran that "he will only guide whoever he
wills and they are the truly guided one, and whomever
ALLAAH made astray no one can show them guidance" but
ALLAAH always remind us that he is fair and always
 just
in his justice. So the answer for those in need
of answer
of why he created us to "submit to him is the guidance".
And the question is backed
to them, If they need the
answer, simply answer this
question from ALLAAH cause he
is communicating to us
with everything we have that he
has given to us by his mercy. "Do
you like me to guide you so you may
understand?"
Allah put us in a test in this life if we
would love
his guidance or our own self-guidance or if we
will
just be selfish and if we will not honor him even
the
evidences are clear enough that there is a supreme
being who created everything? he shows us that he is the
arahman he gave us infinite mercy but contemplate.

Allaah gifted us the ability to think, to realize but to
understand is with the heart. let us try to realize the
value of his mery and his greatness in great things such
as his control behind the atom and energy that transforms
to our needs like how it became the air that we breath,
it became blood that flows in our veins, our whole body
and the organs inside it that functions organizely for us
to live, how it became plants, vegetables and fruits for
us to eat, the vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed by
our body, the earth where we live that he placed the
earth exactly in the dot of a dot of a dot of an infinite
dots inside the universe or AlahuALAM maybe the universe is
just a dot of somewhat bigger infinite creations that we
could not measure yet we are in place that life exists
and now adays we know that the universe are full of
blackholes and explotions, what if he did not organize
and control those things? what if we cannot move, what if
we cannot rest or sleep?  what if the sun and the stars
fall to the earth? he gave us all the favors so how we
could we question him why he created us,..to question him
is a great disrespect if we just realize his greatness
and his infinite mercy just for us to exist and live in
this life. And yes we know but still if we could not
understand it is because we still not yet gaining his
guidance thats why we are not even grateful, we cannot appreciate his mercy for our benefits, we cannot honor him. why? because we are weak in aspiring his
guidance. yes we can realize but that is not enough to
understand, and that is why we are given our hearts. The
mind thinks, the heart decides which to follow or if we
will pass ALLAAH's requirements for us to be guided by
him for us to understand life. Another question appears
that "Why he has made my heart, arrogant, selfish and
weak to worldly things that it will decide to choose evil
than what is right if he wanted my heart to choose his
wills for those are right things and best for me?" and
the answer is we are given the ability to struggle, to
strive, even we know that we are weak there is a light in
our hearts even it is small for now ALLAAH will increase
to guide us and for us to be strong and clean our
hearts. Allaah told in the quran that before he will
change someone, that someone must change himself first
not that he will guide himself but for him to struggle,
to strive not to be affected by worldly things, or are we
ready to fully submit to him, or are we humble enough
after we realized his infinite mercy on us? Again for me,
to myself, to I and all of us, if we want to understand
him, we must accept him, we must be humble to him in
every ways and strive for his guidance and prove
ourselves that we need him. and those are the
requirements needed for ALLAAH to increase every light in
our hearts and for ALLAAH to change our hearts and to
strengthen us against our weaknesses or in short for us
to understand then we can become grateful for his infinite
mercy on us. For those who are grateful human beings are
those who understand that fully submit to him. We must
open our hearts and minds to appreciate him, show our
appreciation, strive, and struggle for us to become a
grateful creature who understands the value of his
infinite mercy  to us. Everything we have is by his
rahmah and the outcome of his judgements depends of his
being araheem. he gave us everything, the question is can
we use these everything rightful for his will to pass the
judgement day? He equipped us in everything we need to be
fair for us so that we could not question him on
judgement day. We must understand so we will know that we
cannot question him for everything and be a slave for him
for rightful things that will give value in our lives. we
cannot put value in our lives without submitting to him
and serve him. And to do that, again to me, to myself, to
I, and to all of us be fair to him cause he is always
fair to us and we are always the beneficiaries of his
commands. Let us all be wise, take our purpose, study
more and contemplate more. let us follow the islam
religion or perfect deen of life in its real meaning, he
gave us the Holy Quran as the perfect book of guidance,
the holy prophets and the holy imams as the perfect
representatives on earth who has the authority to lead us
and to teach us the islam and as the perfect role models who
has the best moral characters that ever existed in this
life. We are given the complete package of guidance, we
are the only in need to accept the guidance. let us copy
our role models. Allaah gave us perfect role models that
are perfect human beings in following the deen of life
and that is islam. If we cannot accept them and that they
are infalliables then next is we will question the quran
, then deen al islam, and then ALLAAH who created them.
For there will be no perfect proof of the effect of Islam
if there will be no perfect models and teacher for us as
well as the acceptance of ALLAAH if there will be no
perfect proof of his guidance...
