My Dua Ahad Story

(salam) w/r w/b:

I promised a member on SC I would tell this story so here goes.

Since about February 2011, I have tried to recite dua Ahad for 40 mornings. Each time I tried, I failed to wake up for Fajr at about the two to two and half week mark. Everytime I was dissapointed with myself.

If I couldn't get to pray fajr for 40 days then forget about Dua Ahad, I had bigger problems.

Nonetheless, I continued to struggle, continued to try and recite dua Ahad 40 mornings in a row...kept failing.

Even though I came home from University, there were mornings that my whole family would fail to wake up for fajr...A really sad state of affairs.

On Tuesday June 7th, I didnt not wake up for fajr...I had failed again. I recited the qaza of fajr at 11 am and for the first time said,

"Ya Allah, without ur tawfeek, is it possible for this task ever to be accomplished? Ya Allah adrikini!"

khair, I woke up for Fajr on Wed, June 8th...and the next day, and the day after that, and so on and so forth till I hit July 3rd. I realized that Alhamdulilah, I had done a good job for waking up for fajr, Also my family had also not missed a single fajr since Wed, June 8th, and I had also recited dua Ahad on every morning since Wed, June 8th. I knew, that this would not have been accomplished without Allah (aj) granting me the tawfeek to do so.

Curiosity overcame me and having the knowledge that I hadnt missed dua Ahad since June 8th, I wanted to see the date of the '40th day' of my endeavour would be.

By Allah (aj), to whom all the Glory, praise, and thanks belongs, I realized that my '40th day' would be none other than the morning of 15 SHA'BAAN ITSELF!!!!!!! (Sun, July 17th)

I promise all of u that I didnt plan for it to be like this. I only figured out on July 3rd that this would be the result and I was over joyed.

I am happy to state and share this good news with all of you that I didnt miss fajr prayer or dua Ahad from June 8th to July 17th and still counting. Inshallah, till the day I depart this world, I hope Allah (aj) will grant me the tawfeek never to miss fajr or dua Ahad ever again.

Ilahiameen.

Shukran for taking the time to read this.

Some of you will be feeling a sense of divine intervention and planning took place.

Some of you will feel that it was luck.

And still yet, some of you will feel that it was pure hard work.

What you think it is, I leave you with two verses of the quran:

076.029

YUSUFALI: This is an admonition: Whosoever will, let him take a (straight) Path to his Lord.

PICKTHAL: Lo! this is an Admonishment, that whosoever will may choose a way unto his Lord.

SHAKIR: Surely this is a reminder, so whoever pleases takes to his Lord a way.

076.030

YUSUFALI: But ye will not, except as Allah wills; for Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

PICKTHAL: Yet ye will not, unless Allah willeth. Lo! Allah is Knower, Wise.

SHAKIR: And you do not please except that Allah please, surely Allah is Knowing, Wise;

Mashallah. Good work. Just one question though. Shouldn't it be compulsory to use alarm clocks and mobile phone alarms to wake up for fajr. Is there really an excuse for not waking up???

Absolutely no excuse for not waking up. But their is the expectation and then there is reality. And the reality was that sometimes, I didn't wake up, for what ever reason.

Salam alekum brother billy187

I read in several ahadeeth concerning the golden age that there will be no more alarms or people waking up without wanting to wake up.

To me personally this is the single most attractive thing to look forwards to. No stress! Not sure how sahih the hadith is, however it makes sense .. And I already try to live by this sunnah.

Let's start planning for the golden age guys.

In 'the art of war' book it says something really cool:

Along the lines of .. "in times of peace prepare for war and in times of war prepare for peace"

Currently globally speaking we are time of war. May Allah bring victory to peace, harmony and love.

Thanks and (salam)

Do not give up hope if the answer to your request is slow in coming, for surely what you receive depends on the strength of your request.
