What Kind Of Plants Do You Grow

Assalaamu Alaykum I was wondering if there was anyone else on the forum that like to grow plants and what kind they are currently growing? Right now I'm currently working on some Succulents and Air Plants. Post some Pics if you can

I had a lot of houseplants but they died when I went out of town and my relative did not water them.

Can't say I can provide pics cos I'm at school atm, but we have lots of plants :mellow: I will provide pics soon

at home we have:

Passionfruit, strawberries, nectarines, peaches, almonds, lemons, limes, kumquats, fig, pomegranite, grape vine, olive trees

Onions, radish, chillis (lots of them), capsicum, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, parsley, mint, coriander, basil, sage

dragonflowers, roses, daisies, aloe vera, lots of other succulent plants, pansies, snake plants

and yeah, we really love planting stuff

I have been thinking to buy a plant and have one in my room. I dont know why. This seems like a good idea. just a nice plant to keep me company :) thanks for the pics!

Yes, I currently have a potted plant in my home. I don't know the name of the plant..it has green leaves and red flowers.

In the future, InshaAllah I am gonna try to be a gardener/farmer just like Imam Ali(as).

I always tell this to people. Pothos sp. is the perfect plant for busy people. When it gets dry, one of the leaves turns yellow. You snap it off and water the poor thing.

^ you should, it can be fun. However sad it sounds LOL....I have had a weird interest in plants/nature all my life thanks to my dad!

I am growing a spider plant at the moment, but its getting a bit big for its pot so I don;t know what to do with it. I can't transfer it outside :S.

Croton is a beautiful plant. This looks like one that I had that died when I was out of town and my relative did not water it. Can't forget about my plants dying.

I am in the country. Right now it's winter so nothing growing outside. My wife is into orchids, and other flower things, but is trying to grow some food stuff inside. Romaine lettuce, if cut 10 cms from the stock will grow again in water, then earth. I believe she has brussel sprouts started because they take so long to grow and our season is short. I built a greenhouse on the south side of the house so she can start early, (March/April). Still a toss up whether the greenhouse crop is worth the heating bill.

In the summer we grow most of our veggies. Harvest becomes work.

I have one of these. 

I had one before, years ago, but I moved into an apartment that didn't get any sunlight and it died. 

I have a little red dogwood tree that I'm hoping survives the winter. My daughter planted some seeds from an apple that she ate, and they sprouted, but I'm not sure they will make it through the winter. 

I've got a little bonsai tree, but it doesn't grow at all. I expected slow growth, but it has far exceeded my expectations. In almost a year, it's a little sprout, less than 2 inches tall. 

Our house came with two fig trees, grapevines, a persimmon tree, a forest of bamboo, several palm trees, over 100 non-fruiting banana trees, and more, but they weren't maintained by the previous owner.

I'm going to be growing a lot of my own Herbs and harvesting them. After that i will be making tinctures, storing others, and the like , inshAllah. Some of these make a great impact on health, mental well being, mood, digestion and so many other things.

I'm researching the different plants I have that society has called weeds. I'm finding dandelion and plantain majeur have many healing properties as well as nutrients. Considering weeds are the biggest battle, I may as well capitalize on what's around me.

We grow vegetables e.g cucumbers, coriander,mint, pumpkin, tomatoes, spinach lettuce,ladyfingers, to name some.and flowers e.g roses though there are naturally many flowers in in summer like amaranth, chicory, clover, lotus some names I don't know.

A "weed" is only a plant someone has not found a use for, yet.

True. The word "weed" is a verbal noun for eliminating something unwanted or unsuitable, such as weed out unqualified applicants.

While "weeds" are troublesome plants (or members). Usually in cultivated ground.

Unless the subject is funerals, the above should be a complete response.

Yes, I love words. I often study one sentence and think about why the author chose each and every word instead of some other words. It's fun. 

Have you considered that Haji 2003 post about weed was in a medicinal context?

Yes. lt is the use of two slang words in two double entandre

Minced plantain major used as a compress clears skin allergies, and reduces swelling from bee stings. Can be found on the side of every gravel road.

Many "weeds" have been declared weeds so pharma could do their job.

The Bible speaks of herbs and healing. What was known as herbs then could be weeds now. I'd like to spend some time with the Aboriginals to learn more about what's native.
