I don't think it's aaqiq?

I read this post:

As the aqeeq is mentioned as an aqeeq and Jaze Yamani is a separate stone so I must assume it must be a different stone..

Salam. Yes. Hajar al-Jaza' or Jaza Aqeeq or Jaza-e-Yamani refers to dark Yemani agate stone, predominately black.

Or Jaza' is a type of Aqeeq (agate) as already mentioned.

It does however come in many different colours and shades such as this one

The darker stones are often refered to as black Onyx in English.

Jaza' can be distinguished from other Aqeeq by its layers.

One thing most of us get wrong is the name as we call it

Jaza' 

When it's Jez'

جزْع

I.e. Sukoon on the Z 

 

 

وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ
