Eating Jewish/kosher

As salaam alakim

I know Shias are suppose to eat halal but is it ok to eat kosher if no zeeba meat is available?

(salam)

Unfortunately no. According to the ahadith (any knowledgeable brother will second this) that are attributed to the verse allowing us to eat what the Ahlul Kitab "make," you cannot eat anything besides what is grown from the earth, i.e. fruits and vegetables etc. Meat is off-limits even if there is no zeebah meat available.

Seek out halal fish and shrimp instead. They say fish protein is really underestimated these days.

Salaam

Kosher meat doesn't fulfill many of the preconditions for zabihah in order to qualify as halal. Namely the person slaughtering the animal should be Muslim, the animal should face the Qibla, and the name of Allah must be recited.
