Salam everyone,

I am new to this forum and this is one of the reasons I made it. I had been watching History channel and lately they have been showing many things about 2012, and the Nostradamus effect which got me wondering. Now I am not very educated in terms of hadiths and such of course I know my religion which is one of the more reason I got to wondering.

On one of the episodes of the Nostradamus Effect, they were showing the Anti-Christ and Nostradamus's prophecies. Nostradamus predicted three Anti-Christs, which they showed at Napoleon and Hitler and the third has yet to come. According to Nostradamus, the third anti-Christ will be a man of peace and people will be running after him and love him and etc but he will actually be adding more terror in this world. Now of course we don't believe that because in our religion we have the Dajjal and through hadith's we know his physical attributes and such.

Then on the history channel they showed 2012 and Armageddon and all that good stuff. I did some research of 2012 on Shiachat and like I said before, we have our faith to guide us about such things that the awaited Imam (atf) will come and the Earth will live on for many years after Imam (atf)s zahoor.

There is so much propaganda going on about the Illuminati and Obama being the Anti-Christ as he is trying to bring peace into the world and etc. What do you all think of this? Especially with all the natural disasters and terror going on in this world not just against Shias but Muslims in general. If anyone can please also just tell me what the Illuminati is in a nutshell I would be very grateful, with all these conspiracy theories and the new world order & etc.

As much as this stuff interests me, I try to do research and end up lost maybe because there is so much out there and its hard to put all together in my head at once.

So what do you all think about Nostradamus and his prophecies, should we pay attention to them? What about 2012? And are these natural disasters azaab, just natural disasters or signs of the coming? Obviously we believe the Day of Judgement will come after the Imam (atf) so I guess we cant say these are the signs of Qiyamah?

Thank you, your answers and help will be greatly appreciated.

Taken that some people are gifted with seeing the future, it is better to rely on Islamic and Ahlul Bayt teachings, since they are the source of knowledge for everyone. The three dajjals is interesting since in a youtube series I saw a hadith of there being 3 sufyanis. I would more put them along the lines of Saddam and Zarqawi, with the third Sufyani yet to emerge from Damascus. Illuminati/Freemason is real, and they wait for their messiah, which is our Antichrist/Dajjal. Dajjal, as a system has long existed. As for research try into looking at books on Imam Mahdi e.g. Kitab al Ghayba etc and other books available.

However, it is best not to get too muddled into signs as all of them probably will not come into effect, except for those that are ordained to happen. Seeking knowledge on how to improve your life today is better than waiting for Imam to come tomorrow. My two cents.

(bismillah)

I've seen many documentaries but the only one that interested me is the old one titled "The Man Who Saw Tomorrow" starring Orson Welles who died in 1985.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4ccoU7OCcQ

Near the end he speaks of a man wearing a turban who will rise to power to establish Muhammad's law. This could only be the Imam (as). In his own words, Orson said that the Imam (as) will bring tyranny and destruction, and eventually bring mankind to final annihilation. I bet this man forgot what his own country have done/ or been doing in it's past and present?! I guess everyone sees others with the eyes of his own nature!

In another documentary, one guy speaks of the comet/ satellite/ moon that will enter close to the atmosphere of earth but not collide with it. The polarity of the sun will cause one of Mars moons to lose orbit. I think for an object this big to fly close by to earth causing it to change polarity, it should have an immense velocity.

Aslam Alikum,

Just had a look through the video and the theories. I do not believe he means that the Imam (a.s) would bring evil. If you listen to his words, he states that the barbarians will be defeated. In his time, Islam was innovative and made many discoveries such as Algebra etc even the decimal point. Any how barbarians are people who are free and are ruled by no one. They do not obey laws of man or faith. Barbarians from east with their Dajjal or anti-Christ can only mean the occupied space of Israel (people who were banished from their town returning as described in many hadiths). Even to this day they referred the land as occupied settlement and this sort of behaviour is seen only in barbarians. The issue is, prophesies have different interpretation. I have always been happy with everything in our book (Quran). The only confusing element was 'whom ever your right hand possess'. I always have been very uncomfortable with this concept until recently when I stumbled upon a website explaining various things people miss out by translations and not knowing the norms of the time the Quran was given to us. It actually meant 'whom ever is under your oath'. Get it? Right hand? Oath. So various things are lost in translations and interpretations and also to our satisfaction. One needs to bear in mind that when Imam (a.s) would come he would bring Jesus along hence true Christians will follow Jesus hence the Imam (a.s) and any nation which is full Christian would also do so whether it is east or west. This is bigger than all of us so it is wiser to be patient and do not worry about the future. Whatever Allah wills will happen. It is better to live in the present. It would not achieve anything if we know when will Imam (a.s) come, when will we die or when will the world will end. If people know it would just increase corruption as they would repent just before their downfall. God is all wise all knowing. For the people who predict such things, it is no relevance to us. We have to worry if our prayers are done on time, if we are reading our books correctly. It is our duty to pray for the safety of our Imam (as) and pray for the dead. So do not indulge yourself in things which will waste your time and achieve no goals but will mislead your heart. If our Imams (a.s) were not righteous, they would not have suffered so much. We must focus on today. Right now what we pray what we think. All this future game is not our business. It is not our business to know the what is hidden from our eyes. Nor does anyone part from God knows such things. As for people who are skilled in predictions than keep in mind that they are human beings. All of their predictions can be induced by [Edited Out]an and all of them can be correct to lead people to believe in that person apart from the one which is about Islam hence misguiding many people by making them believe that this person maybe right about Islam being incorrect. Your enemy has been around since before man. He knows all weaknesses and how to exploit them so do not let him fool you in to false sense of belief. Hold steadfast the rope of faith and do not let go, verily Allah rewards those who have faith and reject false belief. I hope you understand my point of view.

Aslam Alikum.
