Apparently there is nothing technicaly haram about it,as it was a very popular fashion amongst the bedouins during the time of our Holy Prophet (phub&hh) and if it was so bad we would know.

But I seriously wouldn't recomend if,unless you do want people to think you're into boys

That would only apply if lives in the West, and puts an earring on his right ear(which is the traditional ear for gays in the West).

Ear piercing whether it done on a male or female is dumb. Like tattoos it is not necessary. I do not believe in self mutilation. This includes nose piercing, lip piercing, cheek piercing, eyelid piercing, etc.

Kind Regards,

Farside

From Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani's a.r A code of Practice for Muslims in the West

518. Question: A new craze has spread in Europe in which men wear ladies’ earrings in one or both ears. Is this allowed for them?

Answer: It is not permissible if it is made of gold; rather not at all, based on obligatory precaution.

The above ruling is about wearing earrings. In another thread brother macissac has posted this hadith.

(10569 5) æÚäå¡ Úä ÃÍãÏ Èä ãÍãÏ Èä ÚíÓì¡ Úä ãÍãÏ Èä ÚíÓì¡ Úä ÚÈÏÇááå Èä ÓäÇä¡ Úä ÃÈí ÚÈÏÇááå (Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã) ÞÇá: ËÞÈ ÇÐä ÇáÛáÇã ãä ÇáÓäÉ æÎÊÇä ÇáÛáÇã ãä ÇáÓäÉ.

5 – And from him from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Muhammad b. `Isa from `Abdullah b. Sinan from Abu `Abdillah (as). He said: Piercing the ear of the boy is from the Sunna, and circumcision of the boy is from the Sunna. (sahih)

Does this mean that wearing earrings is not allowed but you getting ears pierced is?
