I cannot stand weather over 18 degrees, I just can't do it. I get angry.

I love cold, snow, lightning, rain, thunder. I can bear being cold, but I can't bare being hot, I'm just like that

Ah then our tastes don't meet! I don't like being soft marshmallow complaining about the Celsius scale going upwards :P

Hey...stop dissing ethics!

I had to endure the pain of going through a double period of hearing the word 'Utilitarianism' 100 times. At least in Philosophy class you learn a thing or two, unfortunantely the same thing can't be said about Ethics  I now need to research what Bentham's Hedonistic Calculator is and what Act and Rule Utilitarianism is! If our teacher could teach I wouldn't need to do independent research! I'm going to start proper RS revision in February as this isn't my main priority. Btw do you know any good sites for RS?

That stuff is straightforward - Utilitarianism, Situation Ethics, Deontological Ethics etc.

You sound like you're doing AS Level right?

I still have my notes from them. This is from my Hedonistic Calculator notes, it might help:

According to Jeremy Bentham, pleasure can be measured using 7 factors.

1. INTENSITY – of the pleasure.

How much intensity the situation will bring, the more intensity, the higher the amount of pleasure.

E.g.: Beer, a higher concentration will bring more intensity.

2. DURATION- of the pleasure.

The longer it lasts, the more pleasure it will bring.

E.g.: if you were top drink beer with low concentration for a longer duration, more pleasure would come of the situation.

3. CERTAINTY ‘V’ UNCERTAINTY.

How certain are you that the outcome will being ‘happiness?’ (Teleological- based on outcome).

However nobody can foretell the exact outcome of a situation.

4. PROPINQUITY ‘V’ REMOTENESS.

(Near) (Far)

How close will this happiness come to you?

How much of it involves you?

5. FECUNDITY – Fecund = repetitive.

Does the situation have the chance to produce more of the same sensations?

• The pleasure may decrease each time.

6. PURITY (opposite of fecundity.)

What’s the chance of this pleasure being a one off?

If it happens again will it always be this good?

7. EXTENT- how many people will it please?

E.g.: 5 Sadistic guards are causing pain to 1 person.

More pleasure is brought to the 5 guards.

Good websites - usually wikipedia is good.

Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy is also a decent website, but it might not cover all the A-Level material, maybe only university.

another amazing hip hop verse, very inspirational

  • Is it just dream?, Am I a fool for trying?
  • I stand defiant but my enemy's the tallest giant,
  • Will visions be reality? they tell me never,
  • I wanna feel the unity that Malcolm felt in Mecca,
  • I wonder if it made sense in his last moments,
  • People don't value the soul cause they can't hold it,
  • Find something real beyond death and misery,
  • And understand the present in the context of history,
  • It's been established Sykes-Picot was a bitter marriage,
  • Since the day Thomas Edward Lawrence tricked the Arabs,
  • I never back stab my people like Abu Mazen,
  • I'll overthrow the monarchs like Abdul Karim Qassem,
  • This is a battle that many better men have died fighting,
  • But I hope to give an insight through my writing,
  • My pen fires at the men who defend liars,
  • I send fire till the end of your empire, - Lowkey "we will rise"

Thought: Wondering why when a molana waits in the hall for recitation of nikah, music is switched of...when he enters to recite the nikah, everyone covers their head?!Is the displeasure of a molana more important than Allahسبحانه وتعالى... :donno:

Not to mention the sleeveless females struggling to cover their biceps.

thoughts: you know you are a geek when you make jokes like this to your colleagues:

JM + BT = RL(CS – AS)CN

MRT

where:

JM = initials of my colleague

BT = boditronics (a brand of protein powder)

RL = Ray liotta in "goodfellas"

CS = the awesomenss level of chael sonnen

AS = the awesomeness level of anderson silva

CN = chuck norris

MRT = Mr T (the only factor able to reduce the power of CN)

honestly....it was funnier at the time
