salams...

The recent women reservation bill has made women activities & reactions on headlines... Women have been giving bold statements that they can do a lot more for the country if the bill gets green signal in Lok Sabha polling.

How could muslim women be separated?

From islamic point of view, moulanas are quoting the dignity and essence of muslim women, standing against the bill. But there are number of HIJAB HATING muslim women who are making their stand like " We don't believe in parda & all ... these moulanas are acting like talibanis"

See the video here -

The most disgusting thing you'll find is that a MUSLIM reporter has quoted a couplet against MOULANAS favoring those so called muslim women who are showing their hairs on camera for millions of namehrams to see....

Media isn't the enemy alone, there are several within the circle :(

What's the stand of HY?

How will we justify that moulanas are right and few so called muslim women are WRONG?

You can't justify that Moulanas who gave contrary views are right.. reason is that there are some Shia groups and Moulana's who have themselves criticized traditional views as parochial and fanatical.. One of these bodies which criticized traditional views is All India Shia Personal Law Board whose president, the well known Maulana Mirza Athar Sb has given a statement criticizing traditional stand as Afghani Islam...

But the irony is that these Shia groups like All India Shia Personal Law Board itself has not given even a single representation to any Shia women in its board.. there are over 20 top positions in Mirza Athar Sb's organization where you won't find even 1 women.. and this organization is in business for 5-6 year now..

Bigger irony is that Shia Board has Religious advisory committee which comprises of 5-6 senior India Shia Ulema.. i would be glad if someone checked their view on this issue.. i guess Mirza Athar sb has not even checked with his Shia Board Religious Advisory Ulema on their views.. i hosted one of the Secretaries of the Shia Board in this years Muharram program.. you would be surprised to know that he was not even in favour of sending girls to school for education..

So we live in a hypocritical world today.. these media houses which work on liberal outlooks and preferences are fed by our own Shia scholars who condemn traditional views..

Although personally speaking i wish we had more Shia women who represented True faith both in their outward appearance and their inner self.. but unfortunately our neo Zakereens and Ulema are fine with the state of society.. their concern has moved from following Islamic value and lifestyle to living a better standard of life...

I saw this show on NDTV and of course support the one third reservation of seats for women in parliament. The mullahs leading the muslim groups in India are crying foul because they don't have any women leaders in their groups and therefore fear that their numbers and clout in the parliament will further decrease.

Instead of crying over women getting more rights, these ambassadors of misogyny and jahilliya should work towards including women in their organizations.

===============================

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women%27s_Reservation_Bill_India

Women's Reservation Bill or the The Constitution (108th Amendment) Bill, is a pending bill in India which proposes to provide 'thirty three per cent of all seats in the Lower house of Parliament of India the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies shall be reserved for women. The Upper House Rajya Sabha passed it on 9 Mar 2010 [1].

The seats to be reserved in rotation will be determined by draw of lots in such a way that a seat shall be reserved only once in three consecutive general elections.

Women get 33% reservation in gram panchayat (meaning village assembly, which is a form of local village government) and municipal elections. There is a long-term plan to extend this reservation to parliament and legislative assemblies.[2][3][4] In addition, women in India get reservation or preferential treatments in education and jobs. Certain men consider this preferential treatment of women in India as discrimination against them in admissions to schools, colleges, and universities. For instance, several law schools in India have a 30% reservation for females.[5] Progressive political opinion in India is strongly in favour of providing preferential treatment to women in order to create a level playing field for all of its citizens.

The Women's reservation Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on 9 March 2010 by a majority vote of 186 members in favour and 1 against [1].It will now go to the Lok Sabha, and if passed there, would be implemented.

Possible benefits

* More women participation in politics and society.

* Social norms in India strongly favour men, therefore, reservation for women is expected to create equal opportunity for men and women.

* Due to female foeticide and issues related to women's health, sex ratio in India is alarming at 1.06 males per female.[6]. It is expected this will change the society to give equal status to women.

* Women are supposedly more resistant to corruption. therefore, this bill might prove to be a factor restraining the growth of corruption.

Possible drawbacks

This section may contain original research. Please improve it by verifying the claims made and adding references. Statements consisting only of original research may be removed. More details may be available on the talk page. (March 2010)

Passing the Women’ Reservation Bill may cause bias in the democratic process because of the following reasons:

* It may hurt the self respect of women who have come up on their own ability, it may result in lesser respect for women in the society. It may also bring down the quality of leaders.

* It is likely to begin/increase the hatred between genders as male may feel deprived of certain privileges, in turn create more social issues.

* Parties will be forced to find women whether or not the women identify with the overall party agenda and the rest of the issues concerning all citizens, as opposed to just women’s issues. There are no provisions to prevent discrimination against men because of finding women who are inclined towards women’s issues alone, or, in other words, biased against men.

* Powerful male members of parties will be tempted to find female relatives to ‘reserve’ the seat for themselves during the following cycle.

* It is feared that reservation would only help women of the elitist groups to gain seats, therefore causing further discrimination and under-representation to the poor and backward classes (According to a National Election Study, 68 per cent of today's women MPs are crorepatis).

Never miss an opportunity to have a dig at Maulana Athar Saheb hey?

Perhaps you should be more concerned about Hujjatul Islam wal Muslimeen Maulana Kalbe Jawad Saheb Qibla o Kaba whose statement on women in parliament was disgusting to say the least.
